I'm planning to buy a compression tester to use to check over an NSR125 before i buy it (as it's apparently just been rebuilt and i want to check how good a job has been done of that Wink ), and i know they come with various size attachments - so what size attachment do i need to check an NSR125 engine compression?

Additionally, any particular one recommended, as i imagine i'll use the compression tester a fair handful of times and i don't like having to buy another one because i bought one that was totally pants. But my instinct tells me to buy the cheapest one i can find (which from a quick ebay search is stuff like these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PETROL-ENGINE-AUTOMOTIVE-COMPRESSION-TESTER-GAUGE-KIT-/320704358898?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item4aab7829f2 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Professional-petrol-compression-tester-kit-TE19-/110686921466?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item19c57462fa https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUTOMOTIVE-COMPRESSION-TESTER-KIT-PETROL-GAUGE-VALVE-/280711661312?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item415bb80700)

The NSR125 uses the NGK BR9ECS spark plug as stock, which apparently has the thread size of 14mm: https://j-mart.biz/j-parts/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=8594

So i'd guess at needing a 14mm size attachment, but does anyone know for sure?

+1 to staying away from the cheap ones....avoid anything that just shoves in, you need a good screw in type that seals well.(with o-rings)
i've had the draper set for a few years now & couldnt/wouldnt do without it.cant fault it either.
its the set with the couple of extra adaptors (30 odd quid iirc), so fits any bike, but you can buy the adaptors seperately.... (tenner each though). if you just want the guage & the 1 adaptor (about 20 quid)
all the parts in the draper set can be replaced, so it should last you for years.....
cheers,

oh, & yup, if spark plug starts with a B, then you need a 14mm adaptor.
have a look here https://www.spark-plugs.co.uk/pages/technical/ngkjpg.htm
