Hellooo,

Iv'e got something with my forks, not sure if its serious or not. Only noticed it today when I was adjusting the suspension. Basically if I sit on the bike with the front brake on and push up and down the forks make a 'knock' noise when they reach the bottom of their travel.

It is just because they are bottoming out? It's not noticeable when riding, probably as they never reach the end of their travel.

Bikes a CBR 600 2000, 16000 miles.

Cheers.

Likely to either be steering head (headstock) bearings, or fork bushes.

If the steering head bearings are just a bit loose then you can try nipping them up, but in reality if they have got to the point of knocking they are likely to have worn a lip in the shell.

Fork bushes shouldn't have worn out in 16000 miles, unless the forks have spent a lot of time with no oil in.

have you checked the forks for oil (it thats even possible on that bike, I dunno) my hyosung cruise had no oil in the one fork and it made a knock as it went to the end of the travel.

Could be an oil problem. Not sure. The sound is coming from the bottom of the forks by the sounds of it. Just like a thud when they hit the bottom.
