Just watching the AMA Superbikes support races from the Laguna Seca MotoGP. What IS IT with US commentators? Why are they just so cheesy? Who do they think they're kidding? Why does it permeate through all US sports. Horrible, just horrible...

Permeates all of American culture - everyone tries to be bigger than the next man to be noticed - leading to the point that anyone with a balanced view is seen as negative, ignored, etc.

Had the misfortune of coming back in to the room when Aircrash Investigations was on just now - 'Riding the THRUST of two general motors engines, the aircraft POWERS into the sky!' So, the plane took off as normal, then.

Probably the same reason British ones sound like they have a stick up their ass and always trying to sound so superior. It's just different cultures. I think British people make the mistake of thinking just cause Americans speak a version of English, then they should act English.
