I was in Hein Gericke today buying some RST Razor leather pants. Managed to get the price down from £160 to £145, not as much as I would have liked, but nice nonetheless. I then tried on an RST Raptor textile jacket selling for £125. I really liked it. It was practical, had loads of pockets, a detachable thermal layer, a facemask, vents, and it looked good (a lot nicer irl than pictures on the internet). The salesman then came up to me and suggested I buy the RST Razor leather jacket instead, which incidentally is £65 more. He said it's best not to 'mix' leathers and textiles. Me being young (19) and inexperienced combined with him being a salesman and eager to sell, I took everything he said with a pinch of salt and walked out.

By the time I actually get a bike, it will probably be September so I thought a textile jacket would be more appropriate than a leather jacket, not only for the practicality, but for the comfort and warmth too. I don't plan on riding in the rain though, I would only ride in the rain if I get caught out.

What's your opinion on a textile jacket and leather trousers?

Also anyone with an RST Raptor Textile jacket that can recommend it?

Personally I wear leathers all year around on the Gixxer. I just value whatever extra protection they offer.

I have a textile jacket, but it doesnt get worn often (Unless im just nipping down the road and CBA)

My RST Razor jacket is awesome and I would recommend it to anyone. If you get it, you wont regret it Thumbs Up

I was looking at the RST Razor jacket, but there are no dealers around me that sell them. I'd rather try it on first before I buy.

Get the trousers at a shop and get the jacket online, more bargains for jackets on ebay than their are for trousers.

Depends if I win my auction tomorrow (leather jacket) I will know what the feeling is the oposite way around. Textile is too hot at the moment unless you are on the bike unlike leather.

I ride leather pant, textile jacket by choice and in my opinion looks cool. The MX boots help too.

Never wore anything for the sake of fashion when it comes to bikes, I used to wear a massive belstaff jacket, alpine* boots and waterproof pants to college every day. Looked like an absolute twat but I was bone dry on the wettest of days so it's all good Thumbs Up
