Hi all, my zzr600 squeaks when applying brakes through town, and seems to judder slightly when breaking harder into roundabouts etc. Not too excessive, but I think it's there

Also when travelling over 50mph, there seems to be a drone from bike, I originally thought this could be front brakes rubbing on calumets, but got home and felt discs and were cool to touch which I thought wouldn't be case if rubbing.

Could bearings in wheel make that sound, or could it be that dealer have over tightened chain, and would that make the droning sound?

Perhaps I'm just paranoid? Smile

When was the last time you changed the pads? Perhaps time for new ones with ample copper grease on the back.

Check for any sideways movement at all on the wheels that may point towards a bearing being worn. If none, whip wheels off and grease in there for added measure.

If the bike still squeals after this, remove the exhaust baffle. If you can still hear it then remove the exhaust packing bit by bit until you cant hear the squeal anymore. Thumbs Up

Paddy,

Yeah I have already called the dealer and mentioned it, however they are down near Bosham (chichester). They put it through an MOT which passed without any advisories. (probably more than the MOT Testing Stations job worth, to push it through without testing it)

I think it may be me being paranoid, but just wanted to check. Also it does tick over slightly too low and has cut out once sitting in traffic waiting for lights. It is simple to just up the tickover slightly ?

I may check the chain, however dont have the tools to loosen it if too tight. Dont suppose the large spanner comes in tool kit does it ?

Me

An mot done at the garage that is selling it is worth about as much as a framed photograph of this:

Take it back and moan, you haven't had it long enough for it to be your problem quite yet and if it is something covered by the MOT they have a few questions to answer.

MOT was actually done by a garage in Chichester about 10 miles from them.

However I could just put it through an MOT myself and if they pick up anything, call dealer and say I have proof etc.. sort it or I'll report them all. hehehe.

however, as Paddy said, could just be me being paranoid.

Was thinking of asking my local dealer to take it down the road and see if its normal sounds ?!

Mot doesn't test how well the engine runs. As for the brakes, squeeling isn't an mot issue.

Just sounds like a good service is in order. Stealers will not do anything useful with used bikes as they resent spending money on them.

Like I said mate, if you want to swing by, i'll have a look over it.

It is probably jus being over cautious...and the bikes probably sat there for a while.
