After replacing my rear tire about a month ago I've got another friggin puncture?

After I went over a speed hump (one of those red ones, in the middle of the road) I heard a "pop". I pulled over, straight away to check, nothing in tyre, nothing in the road, fine.

Get close to a mates house about 10 miles away, "hmm, my steering feels weird" pulled over and my tire is totally flat.

My dad came to the rescue with the van and got me home. I got some more tyre weld to see if it would work but it failed miserably this time, but it shows up the puncture quite well.

I'm now left wondering what the hell caused it? there was nothing in the road and nothing on the speed hump, I'm really confused!!

I've uploaded a pic to see if any of you can figure it out. The tire in question is a Bridgestone Trail Wing TW54, just in case it helps

Shocked what speed did you hit the hump dude? could have been an internal flaw that's burst out with the pressure of hitting the hump Question

And what air pressure was in the tyre?
It does seem rather odd for a month old tyre, try ringing where you got it from and see if they will offer a replacement, or an explanation as to why it has blown.

You go over speed bumps?

Looks like a fault with the tire, i'd call who you got it from who would most likely send it back to bridgestone

I think I rode over the bump at around 10-15 mph. Maybe I hit it too fast. It does seem odd though as there was nothing in the tyre or any evidence on the road. The wheel is off and is going back to the same place tomorrow as I rung around all day trying to find a place with the tyre and, as it's a Sunday, they were all closed!

Something tells me there's no way a replacement can be had, it's just bugging me how it could of failed from going over a speed hump.

No way would hitting a speed bump at 15mph cause that, the tyre must of been deffective to begin with

Well, apparently the puncture was caused by a thorn!

The tyre was taken back the place where it was fitted this morning. Someone took a look and found a thorn, told my dad that instead of replacing the tyre, as the hole hasn't caused that much damage, that he's put an inner tube in the tyre.

I was under the impression that you couldn't put an inner tube into a tubeless tyre. The wheel itself stipulates that it needs a tubeless tyre!

I guess that's saved me the cost of a new tyre Very Happy

Anyone ever put an inner tube into a tubeless tyre and lived to tell the tale?

Thumbs Up Doing it now on the 125. Seems alright actually.

Could you not just plug it again?

Wasn't plugged in the first place dude, but still, it's been done by a place that does motorcycle tyres. If they are willing to hold liability if it goes tits up, then I'm OK with it. Very Happy
