I know you need to click when you see a hazard developing, but if you don't click when you see potential hazards do you lose points? I.E you only click on the actual 1 hazard developing but not on the potential ones.

So I don't need to even bother clicking on potential ones just developing ones?

I clicked when ever I saw a hazard, i.e. someone on the pavement, and car turning in etc, as long as you aren't click constantly you'll be fine.

Just click for whatever you see as a hazard, try to be reasonable and don't clikc too often per clip or you get nada for it.

Whenever you perceive a hazard just click in advance can work to your advantage for example on my theory one of the clips had a woman walking her dog on the pavement, dog was jumping everywhere and I just clicked thinking 'eh might jump onto the road with her in tow' but didn't notice the junction paralell to dog walker where a car flew straight out, reckon I got a 5 for the clip even though I clicked for the wrong hazard Laughing .

But I don't see the point in bothering to click on potential ones when I'm only going to be marked for the developing one and in theory ain't you only supposed to really click once?

I'd say it's better to click than not click!

True, busy doing practice theory tests now flying through the questions with no problem, even on my first attempt I got a 37, read the highway code and practiced a few more now getting 44/45 constantly Very Happy now I'm just worried about the hazard perception although the one free trial ones you get I have passed.

Also it's worth pointing out that all but one clip has only one hazard. One clip has two hazards.

My four-penneth...as a car driver for 30 years i could see potential hazards all over the place and spot the developing hazard very quickly too but the trouble i found is you can be too quick to click the hazard so that it doesn't register a score.

Best advice is when you see a potential hazard then click twice about a second apart...you definitely get it when it's developing then Wink

Just be careful not to click all over the place or it will give you nil points for that clip Wink

Some good advice, that's exactly what I did. I passed my test less than 2 weeks ago and got 70/75 by doing the above.

Some clips I clicked up to about 13 clicks, which is quite a lot. I was clicking at pretty much everything, but still very conscious of the click limit. I clicked about 3 times for a real hazard i.e. a car coming up to your road from a side road, and 1-2 clicks for harmless hazards i.e. people walking on the path.

I see what you mean I just did what you said by clicking more on the practice ones and I got 74% pass.

Yup, keep clicking. Don't assume that you've spotted both hazards in the 2 hazard clip, or that you've already had the 2 hazard clip.

Well if you are that confident about actually spotting the real hazard then yea I guess not. But I would and did click on anything I thought was a hazard.

There where scenarios where I would click ones, there where ones that I would click 10 times, cause there was so many potential hazards.
Just watch the instruction video before the hazard perception test and You will be fine, it explains what to do clear enough Smile

Glad I've taken your advice, much better to click when "I" (you) see a potential hazard and a developing one, although it's obviously not the real test

I've passed it with flying colours the practice ones, I'm now busy going to the library to get the highway code book. Very Happy

The best way i was taught to do it was to click, pause, click and the lady that showed me this was spot on as i did it on my test and got full marks so whether you think its a hazard or not (like the guy walking from the shop to his car) click it because it has the potential to be one, the lady that taught me said she had 24 flags on one video clip alone and didnt fail it because she always had the pause,,anyway this is the best place for advice from these guys, most of whom have passed all their tests, good luck with it matey.

Yes, indeed so I triple clicked and at the end of the mock it said cheating in that one, so take my time and fingers crossed should be fine to go onto my Mod 1.

A friend of mine is a car driving instructor and as I'd passed my car test when all they did was ask you a few questions and show you a few pictures at the end of your driving, I asked him about the Hazard Perception test for any advice he may have.

He said to click whenever you think something may develop and to click 3 times with about a second apart to make sure you don't click to early. He said you could have as flags lit up all the way to the middle of the screen which is quite acceptable. He says the limit is about 20 clicks so don't worry if you're over cautious.
