afternoon!

my kawasaki kmx 125 seems to enjoy wasting my money and fuel by pouring atleast half of the float bowl onto the floor when left standing after running. ive adjusted the and cleaned the carb twice. ive tested the pendulam and it is blocking the fuel from entering the bowl when the float is at its peak. i always turn the fuel off when i stop and leave the bike running while im getting my locks out etc then cut her out. after 5-10 mins fuel starts to pour from the overflow spout for 10ish seconds then stops, dumping around 1/2 of the float bowl. this doesnt effect starting the bike but it is very annoying and smells everywhere i leave the bike out. i dont understand why its persisting to do this even tho ive adjusted the floats twice with no effect of the overflow problem. in the morning the day after ive rode her i lift the bike off the stand and more fuel pours out around 1/6 of the bowl adding the the 1/2 that she already dumped after i left her standing. has any one ever come across such a problem.

any input will be excellent thanks

Could be. Float gasket gone, Drain bolt seal gone or a hairline crack in the float bowl. Take the bowl of and holding it the right way up fill it to see for leaks if none and you are sure the float hight is correct then i would say gasket.

2nd thought. The plunger that the floats push to stop the fuel could be worn.

Sounds like the float valve is sticking. If you give the carb body a short sharp tap with the handle of a mallet it might dislodge anything that is in the way.Does the fuel tap on the tank have a vacuum connection from the inlet manifold? If this is left in the 'Prime' position it can por petrol straight through the carb and in the worst case scenario flood the engine.Does the oil dipstick/filler cap smell of petrol? The crankcase could have petrol mixed in with the gearbox oil.

well today has been the worst day for the problem. after work it took me a good 20-30 minuets of kicking the bike over to finally get it started so i think it was flooded. it always starts first kick so the problem must be getting worse. the tank has a normal tap with a hose from the tap to the carb and nothing else. ill try cleaning the carb out again but im thinking, if the float is stuck then wouldnt the fuel continue to pour untill theres no fuel left in the tank? ill get some pictures of exactly whats happening when i get a chance

Float needle could also be worn out-the tip should be a cone shape with no shouldering or ridges.

Are you shutting the fuel tap when the bike is stopped? If you have a vacuum tap it will need its function checking as well.
