..And it's a copy.

I'm not gonna sugarcoat and say it's amazing and that it's never going to give me problems, because it probably will.

It's just for work Smile

A proven 507 miles since it was registered in 2008, and was only used for that year. Its been sitting under a cover since then.

There are a few hiccups with it though.. Firstly it hasn't been started since 2009, and the guy that had it said it just stopped working one day. Secondly the exhaust has rusted a fair bit, gonna whip it off tomorrow and see if I can wirebrush it and give it a blowover with hi temp paint.

I gave it a few kicks today and it wants to go, I can hear it but it just wont catch on and fire up. Anyone around Leicester with abit of knowledge fancy coming and helping me out for beers? Very Happy

Ive got a pusbike that I dont mind using for work.. But when I finish work at 4am I'd rather use something that'll get me home abit quicker lol. I know, get a car!

I might need abit of online help when I venture out tomorrow to try and get it going.. I'm charging the battery tonight so I'll hopefully be able to get it turning over without using the kickstart.

Pics to follow Smile

So I haven't yet got it started, I decided to half heartedly tackle the exhaust with a wire brush and some hi-temp paint.

The result:

It's not the best, and isn't supposed to be. It'll do me (Y) Smile

Looks identical to my old XR, except it has a kickstart.

Hope you get it running and sorted Thumbs Up

Simple bits first.

First, flush the tank of the old petrol, and drain the carb. maybe take the float bowl off and clean it up in there as it'll be pretty manky. Then fill the tank up with new clean petrol.

Next, new plug. £5 from halfrauds, if that.

If it starts, change the bloody oil. it's been sitting for 2 years, and it's a copy. wouldn't be trusting the old oil to do it any good.

If not, come back and i'm sure we shall be able to assist.

Thumbs Up

Hello. Smile

I've changed the plug already, the guy said the petrol wasn't that old.. Didn't give a timescale at first then text me after I kicked it to death to say that on second thoughts it's probably a year old.

I'll sort it, if not I'll be back to pick your brains!

Cheers.
