I would like to lower the ride height of the front end of my scooter as it feels to high, i know it was designed like this, but i want to lower it.

On the crown of the forks, there are 2 pinch bolts, one on each side holding the stanchion in, so i lift the bike off the floor and then undo the bolts, the stanchions then slide around in the crown, can spin them all the way around horizontally, but i only have 2-3mm of vertical movement. its like there is a lip or a bush or something keeping them in place. has anyone got any ideas what to do?

Its a 52 plate, yamaha Jog R AC

Thanks

If they're anything like the Aerox there's a little lip at the top of the fork leg.

Undo the pinch bolts, i.e take them right out, pry the gap apart slightly using a big screwdriver, then push the forks through (you'll probably have to wiggle them a fair bit).

Beware that you will lose suspension travel and you'll affect the steering angle making it feel unstable.

and MUCH better way of lowering the front end would be to replace the handlebars for lower ones. Or raise the rear end with a jack-up kit to make it feel more front biased if that's what you're after.

By lowering the front end, you shall cause a more positive steering, which could lead the bike into diving into bends and roundabouts, as the previous guy stated. Try lower handlebars or raise the rear end slightly, as this wont affect the steering so much.
I lowered the front end on a Honda650 by 11mm, not very much for a tall bike, but it took me a while to get used to the positive steering.
My bike was the Deauville, so a couple of mm on your bike could have a big effect.
Be careful and good luck.

Im only really looking to do it for a more aggresive look, seing i only ride the ped to college and back which is a 10 minute ride from my house, involving two roads, i wouldnt be that bothered about positive steering, but thanks for the input.

Im going to give what gaz said a go and let you guys know

Thumbs Up

Lowered forks will not make a scooter look "aggressive" Laughing
