Well, the time has finally arrived for me to (hopefully) kick mod 2's ass. The test is tomorrow in Atherton, starting to worry a little bit now though...never bothered with lessons because I didn't think it was worth it, just nerded up on what examiners want to see and hopefully that'll be enough Smile

Any last minute advice would be lovely, and i'll keep you guys updated Smile

Thumbs Up I salute you sir in your bravery, but if I was you a quick lessen from an instructer may prove benificial in the long run, you may or may not have an issues to speak of but he will be able to give you some very good advice on your approach to the test, it could save you money in the long run if he picks something up which would cause you to fail, as for the test, listen carefully, keep to/get up to quickly as near the speed limit as possable, breathe to help you relax, If you think that you have made a mistake forget it, keep going and listening to the examiner, It may not be as bad as you think, also don't for get the idiot car drivers at round abouts if you cant WALK across to the middle before a car would hit you then wait, don't rush, finally relax, be possitive and assertive, and enjoy, good luck on your test, stay safe. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Very Happy

Thank you for the tips! Very Happy

I appreciate that lessons may have been a good idea, but i've been on the road now for 2 years, and admittedly someone else on here suggested that it may not be necessary Razz

I'm pretty confident to be honest, and don't feel like I NEED lessons, which seems like a good sign Smile I get the mirror-mirror-lifesaver-signal show, however i think my main weakness will be speed limits. I'm a killer for not noticing the signs, because i'm focusing on everything else, and so I start making an educated guess. Most often its right, but occasionally the limit doesn't match the road, which will cause problems. And I have heard horror stories of people failing for doing 30mph in a 40mph zone because they're holding up traffic etc, so being defensive just in case won't help :/

There is only one way to describe that experience....wet Razz the examiner came in and basically didn't want to do it, he asked if i'd move the date, but considering my CBT runs out in a matter of days I said no......he didn't seem happy Razz And i'm not surprised to be honest...we were riding in what was practically a typhoon Razz my very waterproof gear didn't stand a chance...you get the idea Very Happy

Well, for anyone who's interested, here's the story Smile everything was going fine (occasionally I thought I'd made little mistakes that'd end up as minors, but ignored them). Loadsa slow traffic because of the weather, but not a problem. It started going wrong when i was in the wrong lane on a massive roundabout...not a problem, just kept to my lane and went around again. But then that meant we were separated, and his next instructions for the next lights were very ambiguous (was unsure if I should turn left or continue straight), which subsequently led me to needing to do a u-turn because i'd guessed wrong. I thought i'd done the turn incorrectly, so started thinking negatively. Upon taking the next turning, I was busy thinking over what had just happened, wondering if it would be a reason to fail me, and then as predicted I heard those heart-stopping words: "There is a 30mph speed limit - three zero." ...well that was game over. He had his reason Sad

Anyway, other than that I only got 2 minors, so overall I guess it was positive Smile And i'm not making excuses, I know it was my fault, just hurts that i've gotta book another damn CBT...meh Razz

Bad luck dude, the lad who was training with me failed for doing 37 in a 30 and he was fuming.

If you are unsure on a speed limit and you are on a main road with residential roads coming off it, have a look to see if any of the residential roads have 30mph signs on them. This is a good indication that the main road is a 40 or above. If none of them have signs, chances are that the main road is a 30mph too.

Learned that when doing my HGV training, and it helped too.

Beware of any new 20mph zones around, or ones which are 20mph during school drop-off/pick-up hours too. Even if its the holiday, they are still enforced.

Just a shame you have to waste another £100 or whatever on another CBT, but maybe your CBT instructor will point out faults for your next Mod2 too Thumbs Up
