£1000 for a bike that is almost new? There's got to be a catch! Are you sure it's a Yamaha?

14,000 miles in 9 months is a hell of a lot of use for a 125 so I'm guessing the bike has been used by a motorcycle training centre or a courier (unlikely, they ride bigger bikes) or it's an ex-rental bike.

But even so, if the bike is in overall good condition it's worth that much even without an engine.

14,000 miles on a bike less than a year old is pretty steep mileage. I'd avoid it like the plague. There are far better YBR's out there for around the same money.
To give you more of an idea. My YBR (which is currently up for sale Wink ) is a 59 plate first registered in Jan 2010. It had 3,400 on it when i bought it in Aug 2010. Now the mileage is 11,500. I have it up for £1150 ono.
The mileage is quite high as the bike is my primary transport so the mileage adds up over time.

If the bike was ridden every day, it works out to around 51 miles a day.

Mmm not that bad, if they used it every day for commuting. I would if I was you, but ONLY if it was in superb overall condition...

The price is fine, if it's honest and has been looked after. Does it have a service history? If he can't prove that it's had regular oil changes, then assume that it hasn't.

Have you seen the registration documents? Have you checked that the VIN matches them, and that the 10th digit indicates that it's a 2010 or 2011 model year?
