Hi

Wondered where you had been. Where have you been drag racing? Is the ZX12R still standard?

Hope things are good with you. Some of us went along to Elvington a month or so ago. I managed an 11.77 @ 119mph on the 1200 Bandit (with a standard can and without even getting rid of the restrictor in the first couple of gears).

All the best

Keith

Everything still bog stock

Runs with mirrors and everything as it came from the crate

Not sure it's gonna stay like that for very much longer tho' I can feel a full Akrapovic system and PC3R coming on Twisted Evil

I was at the last two Elvingtons and also did a session at RAF Woodbridge with the very nice people from www.200mph.net

my 10.62 was on a wet track as well - racing a well tuned scooby - er did I say racing, sorry I meant totally fucking embarrassing Cool Cool ho ho ho

Hi

Surprised we didn't see you. We were probably at one of the Elvington runs that you went to (final actual competitive event in the Straightliners calender). Jus bikes, no cars.

All the best

Keith

No I think I missed that one due to ill health

The very last one was an open RWYB with far less queuing than normal straightliners events - mind you it was cold and damp so that prolly helps

Let me tell you a misted visor in the rain at 177 was no fun

I had to guess when I'd passed the timing truck Rolling Eyes Very Happy

my terminal on the 1/4 was only 100 as I had to virtually stop and open my visor so I was pleased to get up mid 170s with such a shit 1/4 speed Razz

I will be back there next year. Might even take the Bimota over, once I have a rear shock in it that has some rebound damping.

All the best

Keith

Hi

What date is the first event of the year?

Bimota will be useless for 1/4 mile times. Short wheelbase and a grabby clutch.

All the best

Everybody is competition for me Wink

I was having a real shit time off the line, too much mechanical sympathy

The beauty of the 12 is once it's rolling you can lie over the tank and just twist the throttle - my weight over the tank kinda keeps the wheel down Confused and it just takes off - but it should be easy capable of running 9s with a half decent rider

I don't think I beat anything off the line but there was very little I didn't pass on the way to the 1/4.

First RWYB is usually in April

Hi

Only one I beat off the line made a total mess of the start. I had virtually done the 1/4 mile by the time he moved off. Everyone else beat me. I need more practice. I don't dare try the 125 method of moving off rapidly as the bike would probably complete the 1/4 mile before it landed.

All the best

Keith

Not as easy as it looks eh?

Sure going fast in a straight line is easy

but how come another bloke can do a 1/4 mile in 1/2 second less than me on my bike and how come he can 185 and I can only do 183

there are the challenges and the skills to learn and the talent to admire....

Could also be down to the riders weight not 'just' skills.

weight has no impact on top speed - aerodynamic bulk does however

it has a bit of an impact on acceleration but you can offset that with more power Twisted Evil
