I added some engine oil in my nsr today, I didn't see If It need any, just assumed the bike needed some since I've been told It uses It quickly, I'm not sure If I overfilled It since A part of the oil tank Is leaking, I'll show you the part that's leaking.

It's the thing on the very left, next to the oil cap that's leaking slowly, I'm absolutely sure that's where It's coming from.
When I take the lid out oil pours out, not sure If thats supposed to happen so an suggestions?

---- Never mind, I overfilled It according to the service manual.

Do you mean engine oil, or two stroke?

that cap looks like the warning light sender. It might be missing some part or its rubber seal.

Sorry, I meant 2 stroke oil.

I dont see how you can over fill a 2 stroke tank.

You pour it in, it gets full, you stop pouring, put cap and and ride.

Confused

It doesn't matter anymore, I was referring to the overfill cap, It tells you If It's overfilled when oil pours out of It when removing.

Overfill cap? This is a 2 stroke oil tank, not a 4 stroke sump. You can't overfill it, the oil isn't re-used.

The thing on the left looks to be the sender for the low oil light, which should be a grommet, possibly with an O-ring seal. There should be two wires plugged into it, so that it comes on when you're almost out of oil to remind you to fill up.

If its leaking then it needs fixing. Either replace the part, find the right seal, or (more likely to be honest) seal it up with instant gasket. Don't use blue hylomar, it melts if you even look at it.

If you're going to use instant gasket/silicon sealant, make sure the area is totally clean and oil free first. This means taking the part off the bike, draining it, and cleaning any sealing area with a solvent (petrol). Leave it 24 hours to cure before refitting and refilling with oil. If the sender has been disconnected, you'll want to reconnect it and make sure it works before fixing it in place.

Don't just leave a leaking hole. It will leak more when the bike is leaning over, so you might be dripping oil onto a hot engine or getting it flung onto your back tyre. You really don't want to fling oil onto your rear tyre when leant right over.

I removed some of the oil and It doesn't leak at all now. It quite clearly says do not overfill which I definitely did since It was only leaking when I had topped It up.

The max is when the tank shows as full...regardless of what it says once that tank is full of 2 stroke, its full of 2 stroke.

As Robby says, it just burns away... you may have a leak from a crack or something allowing it to creep out of the filler cap.

It's hard to determine when It's full since the measuring window on the oil tank Is terrible, There's lots of oil In the tank and hasn't leaked since yesterday so no harm done.

Never had an NSR... so unsure where the tank is.
The RS was under the seat.. and you pour it in.
When it got the the edge of the lid, I stop.

Sorry, am I being really thick or can you not see the filler cap when you fill it?!

My 2 stroke oil tank is under the petrol tank, It's labelled with maximum and minimum, The idea Is to get the level to the maximum line, filling It to the lid which I may have done would be way too much.

And yes, I can see the filler cap.
