Right as far as i can see there is a major problem when filling a completely dry system.

The thermostatic valve has to hit 100degrees in water and then it opens to let more water through. it has a tiny hole ( filled with crap from radiator normally) to let bubble out from system?? i guess

The muppets who had my bike before didn't realise this when they took the pump and stuff off. So when they re-filled it there was no water in it on the inside of the engine(as it was filled with tapped air) so it didn't open.

Add to this no reserve tank so it would have emptyed the radiator into its self anyway.

Very unusual problem i guess but just sharing some info.

Undo the assorted hoses, fill the engine and rad from the top of them seperately, pop some in the coolant bottle, start it up and see if it gets the fluid working its way round.
