As some of you who have read my other thread will know I'm now having to splash out on having my engine rebuilt after owning the bike for 4 hours Sad.

The mechanic who is doing the work reckons that because the bike's CDI is derestricted, the rest of the bike behaves as if it was derestricted hence the problem. The bike has been upjetted accordingly, and also has a full arrow system, but does not have the powervalve to make it fully derestricted.

Can anyone add to this? i was more than happy with the acceleration of the bike when it was working, so after the engine is rebuilt would I be ok to keep the bike 'semi derestricted'?

Cheers Lads, Dale.

Hi

Restriction was just leaving the power valve off on early ones. Pretty much the state yours is in.

The cdi "restriction" retards the ignition between just under 5k and 6k. Outside that rev range it has no effect at all.

All the best

Keith

The power valve removed is the same as it fully open which is what happens at high revs anyway. the power vavle just makes the bike easier to ride really.

Hi

They fitted a blanking plate, which on the early ones lowered the exhaust port rather more than having the valve in place and in the closed position.

All the best
