Ok so my alternator died on the way home a little while ago.

I sourced a new alternator and replaced it. The old one looked burned out and i had noticed a smell similar to a burning clutch. The connector plug looked a bit burned as well.

So, replaced it. Happy days, bike starts and runs fine but still the engine management light remains on. Obviously now i'm worried it's still not charging, or worse, so don't want to ride it.

is there anything that springs to mind? i have checked the fuses in the main fuse box and they are all good.

help appreciated!

Ian

You usually have to let the bike run through 2 or 3 cycles (cant remember exactly, its been a while since i had my s4) i.e warms up enough for the fan to come on 2 or 3 times, then the light will go off on its own accord (if there is no continuing fault that is)

Or you could take it to a main dealer to get it switched off.

Like i said though, that is all depending on the cause of the light coming on sorted out.

Hope that helps.
Thumbs Up

Check its charging with a multimeter.

Could be a dealer has to turn the light off?
