hey guys I'm 21, passed my DAS Mod 2 yesterday first time! overall was a pleasant experience, Mod 1 and theory was passed first time but I have been riding off roaders for not long off 10 years now. Just after a bit of advice as road driving is all new to me....what bike would be best to get now? ideally Id want a GSXR or Ninja 600, im after something with a bit of a kick behind it....any tips on cheaper insurance as well ? The bike will only be used at weekends really and i have a budget of about £6500 including the insurance!

With that budget, you will be fine Laughing

Cant really recommend a bike, never had one worth £6500 Wink But I can honestly say I need nothing for than a 750.

You may want more but thats up to you.

thebikeinsurer.co.uk will give you great quotes.

Could try some wacky bikes Laughing Stuff like the Suzuki B King comes out fairly cheap, as does a GSXR750.

Looked at Triumphs? Sound and look fantastic! Thumbs Up

Congrats on DAS also!

Daytona 675 would be ideal if you want a faired bike, Street Triple if not. A 750 might be a bit too much to start off with.

A few cc off a 675? I find a 750 easier in town with the power being somewhat lower than a 600.

I was thinking about weight - the Daytona-based bikes are very light.

True, but I dont find the 750 heavy at all.
Its just as flickable as a 600 with the grunt added in as a bonus, mostly cheaper on insurance also Thumbs Up

I had a daytona 600 so its not really the best comparison...its a world apart from the 675. But the 600 had next to no poke down south, above 7k it was fine.

thanks for the advice =) just checked insurance on a GSXR and the cheapest one ive had is £1300 Sad cant really justify paying that for it when im only going to use it as a toy on the weekends Sad just going to have to look for something a bit more insurance friendly and build my way up to the gixxer!
