Hi

Considering an early (95) blade.

16'' on the front is the only issue, if I buy I may convert to a 17'' but not until I decide if it's a keeper.

Anyone know what tyres are available in 16?

Cheers

BT45 or avon roadrider are the best bets, I prefer the roadrider for fronts and the BT45 on the rear, the avons wear a bit quicker if theyre on the back.

Cheers

I've got a '94. Mr. Green

Currently wearing Pirelli Diablos but I must admit to preferring the BT016s that were on it before.

The new Michelin Pilot Road 3 is available too so I've read.

Kris tell me about your 94!

This one has had a new reg/rec, stainless downpipes etc and a new shock.

BT016s - What are they like? I got on with Diablos on track, but not alot of mileage.

Sticky as fuck, still more mileage than the BT014's they superceded.. but they do wear quickly!

Sorry for hijacking your thread but I thought I'd ask here rather than make a duplicate thread for my question......

What would people recommend for an '06 bandit 650?

All the bikes I rode in the 80's I went with Metzler's and found them great but that was 20 - 30 years ago and the best tyre manufacturers may have changed over that time.

Whaddya wanna know? It's a 94 foxeye in one colour scheme without decals. 16k miles and in good nick but obviously been down at some point and resprayed. Micron race can and original shock and exhausts but all spotless.

Don't change the 16" front IMO, the quick steering is awesome.

I paid £1400. Insurance is pretty cheap too.

I've got a 99 Blade with a 16" wheel, wearing Michelin Pilot Sport. It's good enough grip but it is wearing surprisingly quickly. I don't consider myself to be a fast rider but do like to think of myself as smooth. Tyre pressures are fine, but I've got some serious wear marks on it.

Tie this in with the head shaking when hard on the power out of corners and I think it's down to the suspension, but I've only owned the bike a few weeks so still playing with all the settings.

I personally love the Diablos, had them on my Daytona 600 and my SV1000 and I found they give loads of confidence and decent enough mileage. Certainly would consider them again!

Well I'm torn between these two.

Blade would be cheaper than advertised I've spoken to the seller.

Needs to be capable of a 2000 mile europe tour in two weeks time.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-Fireblade-CBR900-RRS-1995-Urban-Tiger-/280724115359?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D5%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D2124139408862117415

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300581123564&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123

Before anyone chimes in with 'that's GSXR1000 money' I've had one, don't want one.

If I sold the blade I'd sell the shock, rearsets etc seperately.

What would any of you lot do?

Thats actually a tough choice..

Im edging towards the Triumph due to the immense in depth listing, shows they actually looked after the machine.

But, doesnt imply the other guy hasn't...just the quality of the ad seems far more important to a guy wanting to sell.

I'd trust a Honda to do touring no issues though... never really had an older Triumph. But imagining the amount of servicing thats been done it seems pretty respectable.

My vote is the Triumph.

BUT

The 'blade has lots of tarty bits and the standard stuff, I've spoken to him and it's had a reg rec, and if I sell the bits seperately I'm unlikely to lose any dorrrah.

Plus I know it would do the trip no problem, he's knocking money off for a new set of tyres. The trumpet would need an exhaust, too. Plus eary T595s such as that had 4th gear issues.

'ELP!

Answered your own worries there.. nothing negative about the Blade in that comment. Go inspect it and if it runs well, take it.

Prefer it over the Blade. Thats for sure.
Buying a spare reg rec for the tour? Tarty bits that will get worn over the tour?

I'd stick with the Triumph as my vote though Laughing

Haha exactly the choice of bikes I was torn between. Laughing

In the end I went for the Blade as I test rode it hard (owned by a mate) and loved it. I didn't get a chance to try the Trumpet in the end. £2k is a fair chunk of dough for an older bike...

Yep I agree 2k is a fair amount. But I can't see it dropping below 1500 for re-sale, and I'm sure the sale of the Gilles rearsets, the Nitron shock and Scorpion can would make most of that up.

It's got a fresh MOT on it now too.

I'll be honest, I'm probably going to buy it. Laughing

edit

Just done a few sums. Factoring in a new set of tyres, with the sale of my Versys I'll be 600 quid up, ergo out of debt and swapping a Versys for a Fireblade, indirectly.

You can get BT016's, Qualifier 2's, Conti Sport Attack, pirelli Diablo's, and Avon vp sports.

There may be others but thats what my tyre supplier is telling me.
Thumbs Up

BT016's are great tyres - they do wear a bit quick but better that than your engine cases...

Yep seen that Daytona, might have a lookskie.

I may have changed my mind about the blade. It's alot of dollar and no doubt a good bike, but a lot of dorrah all the same.

Are you on drugs?

Not radial and do they even make BT45's or Road riders in a 180 section and ZR rated?
