I know if your a car driver you have to retake your test when you come to 70 - 75 (i think),what about us riders?do we have to retake both mod 1 and mod 2?

Asked Tef and he's unsure.....(something else he dont know) Razz

Edited..... or is it you just have to renew your licence with doctors notes?

Interesting question. Here it doesn't even mention a doctors note, apart from C1 licences, which are lorries. By the looks of it, it is literally just a "Hi, I'm 70, renew it please"..

Perhaps the DVLA reason if you're able to fill the form in you're able to drive. Confused

That would explain why so many 70+ drivers are so bad at driving. Many are still perfectly good drivers, I might add.

Anyway, to answer the first part of your question, at the moment, there is no extra test to take at 70, so you just renew it as you would car licence.

you don't need to retake your test you just need to send off to the dvla to renew you licence before it expires

and as far as i am aware you dont need a doctors note either, but you would need to answer the medical questions on the form just as you would if you were renewing your photo or anything else and as long has nothing has changed with your heath then its just simply a case of renewing it.

if you dont renew it then you would loose your licence and have to take another driving test if you wanted to drive again.

There is no retest requirement regardless of age.

Once you attain the age of 70, the licence has to be renewed and is valid for 3 years at a time.

There is no requirement for a medical certificate, it is a self declaration, and 99% all state that they are still fit to drive Rolling Eyes
