Forward facing cameras kind of can, but they have to work harder. ____________________ TheShaggyDA: I've got 3 or 4 pairs that predate my wife, so at least 11.5 years old. |

As already said, some can as all it takes is one rear-facing average speed camera in the entire set of average speed cameras to catch you. The ones near Birmingham that Keith mentioned are a pain for it.
Forward facing Truvelos can also catch you really, all they have to do is catch you and then look or some CCTV very close that they could read your plate from. There have also been cases of a forward-facing cameras catching the same bike over and over so the Police search for a bike like it with a bloke with the same looking gear on driving along that road and then they pull them. If they catch them then boom, lots of convictions.
If motorcycles keep speeding through forward-facing speed cameras then it won't be long before the Government say we have to have forward-facing numberplates again. !
The best idea is just to not speed, it's not worth it most of the time.
For example, if you are on a 10 mile journey along the motorway and you are doing 70mph, that journey will take you 8.5 minutes.
However, if you do the same journey at 80mph, it will take you 7.5 minutes.
If you did that every working day (Monday-Friday), for a year it would save you 4.35 hours over the ENTIRE working year.
However, that means you spend 32.6 hours speeding over the working year which means you are VERY likely to get caught at some point.
So, the question to ask yourself, is saving 4.35 hours over the entire year worth risking 3 points on your licence which will cost you in insurance and the £60 fine? I don't think so.

If biking was about saving time then I would get a car. Every second faster feels better and every MPH faster puts a smile on my face. The numbers of is that many horus does not matter, but the numbers of speed do.
Is it worth it? Yes it is, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't have an angry face if a fine came through. ____________________ Hit the G spot. |
