Get the R1 for the simple reason parts cost so much for mille`s and you have to wait weeks to get them.

Thanks.

Kev.

What do you want to do with the bike?
Coomuting, fast road riding, a few track days, sunday blasts, etc?

Personally I'd go for a GSXR1000 for fun on road if I could afford one. But then I'd stick to the Thundercat or maybe upgrade to a newer 600 if I wanted something to really push it on, especially on track.

I was tempted by the Aprilia but after seeing the servicing costs, around £160 for a first service and £400 upwards after that, I didn't see it being too economical. Also having owned four Aprilias in the past and ordering parts that can take anywhere from two weeks to two months I really couldn't be bothered with the hassle again.

I bought a Blade and have been very happy with it, any of the big four jap manufacturers aren't much different for running costs and parts and usually have no problems getting hold of the part you need. Not forgetting any of our Triumph owners and their machines, have you considered any of them? They should also be similar to run and service, but someone like Marjay will be able to impart more info.

At the end of the day though it comes down to what you want to use it for. The best thing you can do is go out and ride some, decide whether you can justify running the Aprilia over the rest and see which one sparks the excitement the most. They are all great bikes, so it's a bit of "horses for courses" really.
