Thought I'd treat my, battered, old CBR to some mountain air today, so I went for a short ride, this evening, up to the highest point in Cyprus, the top of the Troodos mountains, 1951 metres above sea level. The round trip was a mere 60 kilometres.
Parked up near the summit, didn't bother going right to the top, the road just ends at a gate into a miltary compound, no photos allowed!:-

Heres the final few metres to the top:-

Notice the red and white road markers, in preparation for the winter snow:-

A couple of views looking across to the, Turkish, occupied north:-

View looking south on the way down, (my village is obscured by the tree branch left of centre), around 1000m lower down:-

It was nice and cool up there, I didn't check today, but the last time I did it was 15 degrees C lower than it was at my house.
I enjoyed the hairpins on the way up, but I really don't like them on the way down, I always think the front end's going to let go.
Got home at 7pm in time for tea! ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!" |

What's a metre, and how do I go about eating it?
Some good pictures, looks nice and sunny. In that sort of weather, what gear do you wear? ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11

You're comment has been, duly, noted, afraid you're just going to have to suck it up though!
What do I wear to cope with the heat?
Well I recently purchased this, front and back panels are double layers of mesh, with a pocket in the back for a protector, it does the job.

For the winter and early spring I've got a textile jacket, and usually wear leather trousers. For the rest of the year I put the leathers away and just wear jeans and boots, even they get a bit warm.
Have to say that my "Shark" helmet has excellent airflow through it as well, much better than the Arai it replaced, still on the look out for a decent pair of summer gloves though.
Yes we have plenty of archealogical sites, I'll nip out and get some photos of a couple of the Venetian bridges next time I'm over that way. ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!" |
