I'm taking my theory tomorrow.
I've done all the practice tests on the directgov website, but I'm a bit unsure of what to expect in the hazard perception.

I have done a few hazard perception tests online, but their are so many different ones and I don't know what ones will be in the test.

Can anybody tell me which ones they use for the hazard perception or is it completely random for each person?

Thanks,

I did my theory a couple of weeks ago, the best practice hazard perception clips I found were these ones:
https://www.learnerdriving.com/hazard-perception-test/free-hazard-perception-test.php

They're free, so nothing to lose, and the scoring is quite well broken down at the end for you.

Only downside is that it's one big flash animation and it didn't run properly in my browser at work (launched ok but then the videos stayed on a black screen) but it ran fine at home, although the videos loaded a little slowly.

Could be any, it's all random. Just practice, and remember they wanting you to spot a "developing hazard" not a "potential hazard"

Generally speaking:

  • DO click multiple times for each hazard
  • DO leave at least one second's gap between your clicks
  • DO start a new "group" of clicking each time the hazard develops (a group being three or so clicks)
  • DO remember that one clip will have two hazards
  • DON'T do a double click, that's pretty much instant failure on that clip.
  • DON'T just click continuously throughout the clip.
  • DON'T click more than, say, ten times per clip (you can actually get away with more, I think the total allowed varies from clip to clip, especially on the double hazard one, but ten is a nice safe number).

The videos used on the actual test are much slower than any of the practice ones you've probably done.

Good, because you've got plenty of time to assess the situation.

Bad, because it can make you click too early.

Passed it!

46/50 for multiple choice and 59/75 for hazard awareness!

0 points for the double hazard clip. (I clicked for the hazards, but because I clicked too many times it gave me a zero, even though I wasn't clicking fanatically. Only gave me a maximum of 7 clicks for that clip).

5 points for 8 clips.

4 points for 4 clips.

3 points for 1 clip.

Very Happy
