NIP 36 in a 30

Just got home to find my new T-Shirt has arrived (the Guy Martin 'chain slack' one)...along with a NIP...booo

Apparently I (or someone with the the same reg) was video'd or photo'd doing 36 in a 30

They claim I was spotted at just gone 8pm (I'm usually eating my tea at that kind of time...and my stomach is rumbling as I type this)
I have no recollection of where I may have been going or whether I was returning from going somewhere ...it was only last week FFS

I have not had a "speeding ticket" for nigh on 20 years so am dumbfounded with this new system

It doesn't mention what my penalty will be nor how many points I'm facing
It's very vague on that side of things...but does mention one of these Driver Awareness Training courses (at a cost of £85!!!) and has a tick box if I would like to be considered for it

My question ..
is there an easy way of getting a still shot (or video) of the evidence they have prior to being forced to dob myself in for this most heinous of crimes

I'm just curious as to which way I was pointing and where abouts he must have been hiding as I genuinely no recollection of where I may have been going and the only cameras I know of along that road are forward facing (and I'm always staring at my speedo when approaching the hazard area just in case I cause an accident by going over the limit)

At least I have a clean new t shirt to wear on my (expensive) day out...if I am chosen

36 in a 30 = 3 points and £60 pounds fine some counties offer a speed awareness course for a fee and you don't get any points
I should be possible to get a photo if it was a fixed camera not sure about hand held or camera vans

From what I've heard is that in most cases they won't give you a still as if you want to take it to a hearing they will use it against you as evidence. However I have also heard that some let you see it on the net somehow.

Is the form asking if you were the driver of the vehicle at the time (Section 172?)? I assume so. Write back (quickly, the clock is ticking and you are on a time limit) and ask for any photos they have to help you identify the driver, do not mention evidence, just that you need them to make the identification.

They will send you a picture or pictures so you can see where it happened.

"A32 Gosport Rd Fareham" is all it states on the NIP
Its just not specific enough

There is a single forward facing camera that they alternate between the 2 lanes leading towards Gosport and the 2 lanes leading towards Fareham....

I'm 99% sure it wasn't the fixed camera that got me as
a: its forward facing <----seed of doubt planted now
b: its bloody obvious and has been here longer than I have and can be seen from plenty of braking distance away
c: the traffic is always sub crawling pace going past it and only when feeling brave will I attempt to filter between the 2 lanes of stop start lane swapping cages who have yet to discover a good use for mirrors or indicators

hence my curiosity as to where they may have been hiding if it was a sniper type affair...if it was the fixed camera then I sure deserve it and will get booked in at specsavers

They are doing some work just coming onto the roundabout that is off the motorway/dual carriageway (M27 A27) and heading towards fareham ...I did note some makeshift temporary camera signs a few days ago leading to the works site strapped to their work lights...which would mean I had just come off the motorway and was heading back home

I suppose they may have been warning of the exhistance of a real camera (but would have had to have been rear facing and pretty well hidden...under the viaduct perhaps?), but I certainly didn't see one and would have been just flowing with the traffic - assuming I wasn't filtering at those frankly ridiculous speeds

It's left me even more stumped as to where I would have been as I have no recollection of being out on Monday last...the Mrs also doesn't recall me "popping out" either

If I go along to the "speeding kills ...mmmkay" class I guess the room will be mostly people also caught at a similar day/catchment area? or does it not work like that?
Do they split us into motorbike and car based "groups"?
Do we not get to see the photo's of ourselves breaking the law at the 'speeders anonymous' doo? or am I basically paying to have that damning evidence destroyed for my not insignificant bribe?

(worst fear is public speaking...please assure me I wont have to stand up and say "Hi my name is Rob and I'm a serial speeder" or owt)

still trying to find out where the monies gathered from the Hampshire awareness course goes -it may affect my desiscion to go with points and fine option
It /seems/ to be run by the AA (the breakdown services one...not the can't help myself from getting pi**ed one)

Yes its a section 172 form and looks like I have 28 days to reply

So do I just write to them asking for copies of photo's at the address given for return (central Ticket Office) stating the ref number and other references given and my details??

(prior to filling any of the section 172 driver/keeper statement in)

...just so I am 100% sure it was ME on MY bike doing those bad things I feel I should be shown /something/ at least

They do not disclose what make/model bike it was nor the colour or any other identifying features...I highly doubt anyone would bother to clone my bike let alone my dress sense...but I want to see it

gosport road, fareham, runs from the roundabout thet are currently digging up to the hoeford pub, it then turn into fareham road, gosport. The fixed camera is sometimes set to rear facing to catch out bikes, thats why there are lines on the road behind the normaly front facing camera. That camera can be set into all four positions.

I was had by a front facing camera van, they wouldn't play ball and I argued for evidence. Apparently when they clock somebody on a bike speeding the second person notes the red of the bike after you've passed from the front of the van, to get anywhere I had loads of shite and ended up having to go to court for speeding and a s172 offence and as soon as they showed the picture I agreed that it was me the magistrates gave both me and the camera guy a bollocking I'd gone the wrong way about getting the pics and they could have gave them from what I'd asked was a load of red taped Bollocks tbf...

The roundabout approach towards gosport fareham (a27 where it splits at the viaduct) did have some temp camera warning signs strapped to the worklights a couple of evenings ago (they had it going into 1 lane just by the aggregate place)
I'm wondering if it was those? (though would be a pretty wierd setup being right on the roundabout/ under the viaduct pointing towards Gosport like that)
Would they class that as A32 Gosport Rd? or A27?

Its a 40 from the Hoeford till the Newgate Ln sliproad turn on isn't it??
(so it couldn't have been there...if its a 30 before the Newgate lane split just after the Hoeford then I could well have fallen foul along there)

The only stretch I am sure is 30 .. is the dual carriageway by the garage ...but but but...its a forward facing camera??
Its as obvious as the most obvious camera could be...I would need shooting if it was those that got me
I'm really not convinced I'd have allowed myself to be caught by those by a momentary lapse of concentration

(and I'd be surprised if I have ever achieved and AVERAGE 20 MPH along there without a stop or 2 - apart from wee hours stuff)

As I don't even recall the journey or reason I'd have been going past it at that time I cannot offer any excuse as to why I'd have also been going faster that was perscribed

(no vivid recollection of having to make extra progress / avoidance manouvers due to any external event out of my control - eg being harried by one the of dozens of daily emergency vehicle sirens /traffic pausing dallying at garage forcourt exit etc)

Dunno... its a mystery for now

Maybe I need to hang my leathers up till the affects of the lack of sleep from having a newborn wears off a little

Yes I do use that road a lot as I live in Bridgemary
(which makes it pathetic to have been got by THAT camera if that was the case)

Work in Gosport though so its not my daily commute route, but is one of the vey few available 'escape from the penninsular' roads so is more than likely it was me
