wich of these would you suggest for a 2nd track day?

ive just been to donnington and i want to do another relatively simple one so i can focus on my position and hanging off more before i try a more dificult track.

lol, Outlon is the hardest track I've been too and I think the new snetterton layout isnt going to be any easier unless you are on the 200

To begin with less corners are better as easier to learn so all you have to do is work out how to go fast.

Mallory is easy to learn but hard to go fast and alot of riders dont like it. Brand indy, lydden are easy tracks to learn or even pembrey.

But what i will say is, if your fast at oulton or cadwell then you will be fast everywhere.

at the moment im not too bothered about being fast. i want somewhere simple so i can focus on my body positioning and get used to hanging off.

on my pics form my donington track day, the bikes leant prety far over, infact more than my mate i went with. but because im not hanging off im slower and im not getting my knee down like him.

cant slow you down that much or the racers wouldnt do it. i must say though i was tempted to start sticking my leg out going into corners like rossi......

i know i need to hang off more into the corners and probably need abit more counter steering but i want a simple track to practice on so i dont have too much to think about if you know what i mean

Your bum cheek could be off a little more but i dont think your bottom part of yOur body is the problem. you need to lye your body on the tank more, going round mid corner bolt up right doesnt help. You need your head down and close as to your mirrors as you can. This will help take weight off the springs, offer more grip and stabilty and give more confidence all round.

Like i said less corners the better learning a track like oulton is hard, most racers upto national level find oulton the most challenging in the country.

Judging by Moto GP, it was shown to be jealousy made up by Harley Riders Wink.

The old Snetterton circuit used to be a nice 'basic' track that allowed you to focus on individual corners.

Mallory is overall simpler, but I've never been a big fan of it.

The first trackday I did was at Snetterton (300 layout) and I found it very easy to learn to be honest, much more so than Silverstone Arena GP for example which I still hadn't fully got to grips with after a full day there. If you want to practice your body position there's a couple of very nice long corners which are easy to get your knee down on too.

I didn't find Snetterton 300 all that hard to learn either.
But then I've done the old layout before so was only really learning part of the track from scratch.
If you search around they do still run trackdays on the 200 circuit which is basically the old simple layout.

Not many people seem to like it but my favorite track for small bikes is Rockingham national which is pretty easy to learn and has the long triple left hander which would be good for body position. Bonus for me is its normally on a weekend as well which means I don't have to use any holiday.

I did Rockingham Superbike circuit and didn't enjoy it so much, although it is good for slower bikes and it is easy to learn as it's short. I prefer the quicker tracks with fast sweeping corners rather than the stop start stuff although my bike's a lot more effective for the latter as it really struggles above 150mph where the bigger power bikes are still accelerating like crazy. It's amazing how slow something so fast can feel if you see what I mean Laughing

Have also done the superbike layout, the national is pretty similar but without the banked section. To me its the most fun as its just all corners and no straights. Its very small like a karting circuit.
Maybe not what the O.P is after for body position but you can learn it pretty well in a couple of sessions and use the rest of the day to focus on your riding.

thanks for everyones replys, really apreciate them.

deano; do you suggest any tracks that would suit what im after?

the reason i chose these circuits is because i want to do another in the next couple of weeks and these were the only ones apart from cadwel that were around £100

this will be the last oppertunity this year it get on track as after the next few week then i wont have enough money or the offer of a van to lend for a while

Depends if you are riding to get your knee down, or getting your knee down as a side effect of hanging off for the speed you are doing.

All the best

Personally if I'm leaning to the point that I'm on the edge of grip and the bikes about to ground out I don't like not putting my knee down as I feel like I'm not sure precisely how far over I am. It also gives I think a (probably false in most cases) confidence that you have the bike planted on your knee so it won't get away from you if you lose grip suddenly.

It also makes you feel like a hero.

Had to google that as I don't watch MotoGP Laughing Yeah, like that Mr. Green Not sure it would ever work in 99% of slides but luckily I've never had to test it out. I don't think you could support the weight of the bike with your leg outstretched, it would just get pushed back and trapped between the bike and the tarmac so it would have made no difference whether it was stuck out or not in the first place.

Either way, as a gauge for how far you're leaning I think it's effective, plus the hero thing of course Laughing

snetty and oulton are both worth a visit, id go to the easiest one to get to and ride my socks off and have fun IMO!

i absolutly adore Mallory, thouroughly recommend it, its got a lovely new surface now too, but the entry to gerrads seemed to have been trimmed down so that first apex is a little more fiddly!

what holds lots of peeps up with the talk of body position seems to be sitting right at the front of the bike which means you dont have space to move about, get your body position set way before the corner so all you have to do is brake and peel in

Donny is good choice, you've been there before so wont have to learn the track as much.
