Bargains to be had if you can hang on 5 months or so. 3.5k for an 06 seems pretty average at the moment.
Watch out for oil consumption issues and that's about it IIRC. It was only really the race ones that dropped valves. ____________________ My Flickr |

Never owned one, Sat on one in the local shop, felt a fair bit more "racey" than my Daytona 600..definitely less comfort for me.
Still, the sound and power will soon get you comfy |

Expensive, not peaky enough and thus even more souless than a Japanese sports 600 .
But good enough bikes, still.
Don't sound as nice as the new r6, nor quite have that 'zing'.
A 'real world' engine mated to a race-focused setup. |

My brother picked one up a few months ago, £4990, 2100miles, Gunmetal Grey, limited edition celebrating the superstock win or something like that.
Managed to get a wee go on it when he first bought it and a second, longer, go when we done swapsies for a few miles on a ride out.
First impressions on looking at it were that there was no way I was going to fit on it never mind being comfortable. But to my surprise I managed to get all of my 6'3" 16st frame on there without any issues.
Really nice power delivery and I loved the noise from the airbox, what a howl!! Very sharp handling, it just seems to flick from side to side with very little input. Made my 1098s feel like a barge when I got back on it.
Only thing I didn't like was the suspension felt way too soft, but that has probably got more to do with me being a lump than the bike TBH.
So far my brother has had no issues and the "common" problem of oil consumption has never appeared. ____________________ Current; 10' Aprilia Dorsoduro 750.

Holy thread revival, I know, but it's only a month old so thought I might get away with it!
I've been thinking of upgrading my Yamaha FZ6 to a more powerful sports bike. I test rode a Daytona 675 last week, and was completely blown away by it! I ended up having it for two hours and didn't want to get off.
When I first got on, being used to a more upright position, it felt really odd sitting so high up and having to lean across and reach down to the handlebars, I'd never known anything like it. I felt very clumsy at first, but once I was going along it felt really good. Having never ridden a triple I didn't know what to expect from it, but there was plenty of torque on tap and it accelerated really strongly in any gear. Until I worked out to shift my bodyweight about I did feel a bit wobbly and vulnerable in corners, but that soon wore off.
It was surprisingly comfy to ride, although my wrists ached a bit when I get off.
I absolutely loved it, I think I will be investing in one of these in the near future!
Chalky, did you manage to get a go out on one? |

Is it just me that thinks the R forumla is getting a little tired and predictable now?
It's always bottom rung Ohlins, brembos (monoblocs if it's really trick) and a few splashes of bright paint and carbon fibre(Or the tinsel of fake high performance if you're James May).
Why doesn't someone do something interesting, or genuinely race bred.(Ala Yamaha R7, ZX6RR)
I reckon Triumph should have got AP Racing monoblocs, top shelf K-Tech suspension, dymag wheels, and some crazy Kent cams. With an MHP full system to finish it all off. ____________________ My Flickr |
