"Summer" coolant.

Hi guys.

I managed to get some coolant for free off of my friend who works at an airport. (that's where it came from).

The only issue is it says "summer" on it. I ride all year including below freezing temperatures. Is this going to be an issue at all?

Hi

Check it is an anti freeze rather than just a corrosion inhibitor (or possibly an additive to improve cooling - pure water is marginally better than water / anti freeze mix).

Normal blue coolant concentrate costs less than £3/litre from a motor factor. Why bother using something that might not do the job for the sake of £3 every 2 years.

Look at the bottle, should tell you what temp range it's good for. The fact it says summer, I'm going to guess it isn't designed for minus temps!

Agreed. I got mine from Egay ready mixed for £6 and its summer coolant and winter antifreeze. I bought ready mixed, even though its more expensive, as I cant be buggered faffing with the distilled water to mix it.
