I remember playing the Megadrive game SuperHang on. You got to build your own super duper turbo Mofo motorbike.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eftfA5sLbDw

This was before the internet. It had parts like Muffler, and I was huh? For YEARS I always thought it was Carbs Embarassed

YES OK it has a flashy green thing, but I was ten years old in 1992! I knew nothing (and still don't) about moving parts.

kick stand is US aswell, we also use sidestand

We call the front and rear fairings cowls, normally call the side panels fairings and the bottom bit a bellypan

spec is also used as a short version of specification everywhere i think.

topcase is a topbox here

with up shift, shift up/ down shift, shift down it depends on the sentence: ie, you need to 'shift up.... or i made a mess of the 'up shift'. There just past and future tenses. A present tense would be 'shifting up'.

i prefer your way of saying bar riser though, im gonna start calling it a handle up spacer from now on Cool

Roundabout - Traffic Circle

One I always find strangely amusing is a term which I think is unique to S.Africa:

Traffic Light - Robot

Japanese people think traffic lights are blue.

It is clearly green! Laughing

We used robot in Rhodesia as well but after independence the Mugabe Govt made it illegal to have the preface "Rho" in company names etc so we called them Zimbots.

I think it is just a Birmingham thing but roundabouts are called islands here.

"Exhaust" sounds cooler than "Muffler".
We say green apple as "blue apple".We tend to call green as blue.
We often mistake L and R.
Kawasaki shops here pronounces Versys as "Berusisu".When I once said "Vaasis", they didn't understand me. I don't like the name "Berusisu".

So does Jimi Hendrix

Wink

I'm a great lover of 'Ingerish' - as a former employee of the Tokyo Electric Company, one of my duties was to clear up the mistranslations and mistakes in their manuals - frequently L and R were substituted, something which I derived much amusement from. They do make good plinters though.

As a kid I made shed loads of Tamiya WW2 military models, frequently the instructions claimed it was a requirement to paint the driver's hands and face with 'fresh' colour paint.

It does seem to be a midlands thing.
Worse, around my area (leeds-bradford), it seems people commonly use pants to mean trousers.
"Oh damn, seems to have dripped a bit on my pants, but they're all muddy anyway." apparently doesn't sound nearly as rude as you might expect!

I like the sound of a 'jet helmet', rather than open face. It sounds like it could whoosh around all by itself.
