Hey looking to see if anyone can help me out. I have my ZX10r insured through bikesure I have TPFT cover and paid the years cost at £950 up front, I have a couple of convictions which are due off next year hence the higher premium however the policy has been in place for just over a month and today I have received a letter to say 'we write to inform you that your policy will be cancelled as of: 01/06/2011, please return the documents back to ourselves this is inline with our underwriters Trinity Lane'.... no explanation regards why it is being cancelled all details disclosed correctly on accepting the policy & also no mention of a refund of my premium. I have checked my policy booklet which shows that if the policy is cancelled within 1 month a refund of 75% is given or more than 1 month it goes down to 62.5% and so on however surely if this policy is being cancelled on me with no plausable reason I have grounds for complaint and a full refund however I feel that if they have accepted a policy for cover then they must honour this until renewal unless I change someone or have mis-lead the insurance in some way.. any help would be appreciated as time is running out before they cancel on Wednesday...

They should give you a reason, because if you have your insurance cancelled you are legally bound to declare it when you apply for further insurance. The first thng they will do is ask you why.

They also haven't given you much notice. Quite how you can be expected to organize new insurance with only one working day's notice I don't know.

Is there any finance on the bike? They might have cancelled it due to being under-insured.

Another thought: write to them and make a Data Protection Act demand for all of the information that they hold on you, specifically including the reason for cancellation.

Do get it sorted out: you don't want to have to declare that you've had insurance cancelled. If you think they've nobbed something up, be sure to tell them that you'll be pursuing them for the full ongoing costs of their mistake.

Ring them, and ask why?

My renewal was done by phone, and after a similar period, I got a letter saying insurance cancelled.

Whoever took the phone call claimed that I hadn't declared an accident, I was adamant that I had.

As calls are recorded, they checked the recording. Result? Incident declared, the operator hadn't recorded it, iit had then shown up on a database check, hence the cancellation!

They requested additional premium.... and were told to stick it!
