..it then?

Well, that seems to be the general consensus around here anyways Laughing

What about these?

Korean, look pretty good but don't they all Rolling Eyes and I've been offered a naked for less than a grand, low mileage.

Worth looking at or give it a miss?

Yea, thanks Rob and I would but it's that old Money thing I guess...

I just done CBT and need something cheap-ish to run around on before test etc but I DO NEED TO GET USED TO A BIKE AGAIN so need something.

I would be happy to get 6 months to a year out of it and then pass it on at a loss of 200-300 squids.

I just know nothing about em and there are not many reviews around.

Have a look at this. Might be helpful, but check out other reviews too.

Heya, first post Confused

Just had this dilema myself, "smart looking chinese 'kamayamazaki' or a slightly tatty jap bike"

Myself I went for the jap bike for reliability but i'm finding parts aquisition a poblem now due to it being an import, so whatch out for that one too.

Personally I'd suggest a jap bike as the chinese jobs are a bit hit and miss. I've heard a lot about them rattling to pieces or having inexplicable flat spots.

My advice (although it must be said it may not be worth taking) is that if you can afford a brand new chinky job, get one as you'll have warranty. Otherwise I'd go with the ropey jap option.

Hope that wasn't too painful as my first post. Very Happy

Warranty is not much good on them. It'll be in and out of the garage constantly and they're usually only for 3-6 months in any case.

Avoid chinese bikes until they sort their quality out.

Nothing on that page in my price range cept Skyjets. Very Happy All the CBR's are at a grand and going up.

My limit is £1000 and I'm pushing it at that I reckon.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. Thumbs Up

You should be able top get a fairly decent 125 for a grand. I paid that for my NSR 125 which could've been considered over the top. But in good condition, great first time starter and all that, Taxed and MOT'd with new tyres.

Keep looking, don't rush in, look over the bike carefully or have someone do it for you.

After a quick bit of research Daelim is a South Korean engineering/construction/pharmaceutical company.

Although not Japanese, certainly not Chinese either.

Might be worth a punt I suppose.

The pic on the ebay ad is for a Roadsport not a Roadwin Shocked Strange the seller would get that wrong??

Edit**

I would make sure you do a HPI check to check it hasn't got finance left on it. If they are selling it only after 1 year that must mean they have forked out the full £3k asking price and now willing to take a £1500 hit for 12 months use.

As far as I know, skyjet is another name for pulsar, and I hired a pulsar 180 for a few days in south africa and loved it. Seemed well made to me.

That's not the one.
I linked that as an example. The one I got offered is a Roadwin which I think is the naked vers of that one. I'm to old for sporty *looking* 125's and that's fer sure!!
I DO NOT WANT A FULL FAIRED 125 Thumbs Up

Anyways, with a little research and reading I get the impression they are better than Chinese at least Very Happy

I could wait I spose but you guys know what that's like, right?

It would have been nice to hear from someone that owned one here though but I guess there is no harm in looking.
I'll let ya know what happens.

It might worth a punt, depending on how long you intend to keep it. I'm thinking mostly of the resale value - Hyosung might be getting known, but I doubt you'd find many buyers who know or care that Daelim is Korean. Check parts availability and the ease of getting insurance before committing and bid lowwww.

I had a look at a Daelim Roadwin when looking for my 125 after doing my CBT recently. I really liked the look of it & was very tempted but I called round maybe half a dozen garages to find out if parts are readily available & if they were fairly cheap & every single one of the garages replied with.... "a what? Never heard of them mate. No Sorry wouldn't touch it" So I bought a Yamaha ybr

WeMoto are carrying consumable parts for Daelims now, but I agree, you might be stuffed if anything breaks or falls off.

In a way, Chinese-branded bikes are actually a safer bet than Daelim (or even Hyosung to a lesser extent) as there are loads of bits around, both new and salvage, and most of them will take Honda / Suzuki parts anyway.

But yup, Japanese branded is much more sensible, even if you have to go older.
