Need lower fairings sprayed

I bought some lower fairings for my SV650 a few days ago. They were cheap, second hand but never been used. However they are not the right colour so I need to get them sprayed. I went to a body spray shop a few days ago but days later the guy working there phoned me up saying he couldn't get the right colour for them. The reason being the colour is metallic blue so needs two layers to get the colour right.

Anyone have any experience with resprays and any idea where to get the paint from, and what type?

The guy is right, often they need a special colour under them like a certain shade of black, white, or even something like yellow or orange.
I see no sense in respraying perfectly good panels hoping to get an exact factory finish match. You might as well stick them on ebay and use the money you get from selling them to buy some the right colour. It'll be cheaper than spraying them and look better.

Leave them as they are, to contrast the main bike colour, and get a vinyl stripe in the new colour to stick on the upper fairing. Bob's your uncle.
