Which would you prefer? ZZR1100 or TL1000S.

Well I've used Tilly for a grand total of 38 miles since I fell ill. I somehow managed to get a blood infection and it made all my joints swell up. Can't really ride her properly as it still hurts like buggery on the elbows and shoulders, even though the swelling has gone down.
Stuck it on ebay with the intention of getting a swap to make a streetfighter (more upright) but a guy has offered me a black ZZR1100 on a 96 with 29k. It's very clean looking and apart from a double bubble is completely standard.
Too clean to fighter and I thought I may keep it as a winter runaround.
I've had a couple of D's before so I know they are good reliable bikes but am I going to miss the fun factor of the big V-twin and I can't really remember now the riding position?
I've stuck a poll up to see what folk think.
The guy is riding down 270 miles on the Z on saturday to have a deal as long as we are both happy.

Obviously I know they are two completely different bikes

I wasn't aware they had such a strong following. When I looked into buying one originally everyone came across as a bit sheepish about them.
What about the ride position though? Will the Z be any better?

TL! the zzr was ugly in 1996 and hasn't aged well!

could you not fit risers to it?

You might just be better off selling the TL and buying something you want rather than accepting something that is convenient.

I'd love a zrx too but they are still pricey compared to what the TL is worth.
I don't really want to part with any more money as I have about 4 grand tied up in my Discovery. Thats why I was hinting towards deals but if someone does come along with 1500 then they can have it.

If you have issues with weight bearing and joints then I'd favour the ZZR. While it's still a fairly forward position it's not OTT and the weight is pretty well distributed.

I'm well over 6 foot and have a damaged spine, the ZZR is one of a very small number of bikes that I can still do a 300+ mile ride on and feel fine. Having said that, she did get dramatically more comfortable after replacing the stock seat with a Corbin.

As to the TL, if you want to stick a different set of bars on there then talk to a local engineering shop. It didn't used to be difficult to find somewhere to knock some risers up, times can't have changed that much.

I'd go for the TL personally, but if it hurts you to ride it, the ZZR may well be a more sensible choice.

Try and get a sit (and ideally a ride) on a ZZR before agreeing would seem sensible?
