Yes, on paper they're illegal, but quite a few people still wear them and I've never heard of anyone done for it.

What are "bandit helmets"? Do you mean from bandit-helmets.co.uk?

Some of them say they're ECE 22-05, some don't. It would be illegal to sell them for motorcycle use without ECE (or an appropriate BSI) mark, but that's between you and them. I can't imagine there's any realistic chance of being tugged by Plod for wearing one, and even if you do, there's a defence in the statute for wearing a helmet which you "reasonably believe" offers "equivalent protection".

Hmm, I like them a lot, and wouldnt mind one,. however probably wouldnt really suit someone riding a ZZR600. Probably more like suitable if riding an R1 or ZX10R etc.
