I know I'm pretty much screwed. I'm 20, got 5 points for driving without due care and another conviction that doesn't carry points for driving otherwise than in accordance to licence. And will only have 1yr NCB on 4 wheels.
I'm trying to insure a van but so far have not found anywhere that will insure me Sad . I know I can still get insured as one of the directors at work has got me insured on the work vans, but he said it wasn't cheap. I did wonder if it might be possible for me to get insured on a bike again, but don't fancy having a bike as my only form of transport again.
Are there any company's that might insure me? Even better a way of getting it reasonably priced without lying?

Bike would be best bet, but even that will be expensive, at 25 it's still quite pricy for me to insure a van on a clean license, god help what quotes you'd get. Unfortunately, you're pretty much stuck with low group private vehicles until the points come off Sad

Sorry for the off topic - did that due care thing from the crash actually stick?

How did they prove it?

Yep it did Sad. Their argument was my supposed bad riding before the crash (even though I did point out several errors in the witness statement they weren't big enough errors for it to be dis-credited) and the whole fact that I crashed. If I hadn't been riding with out due care and attention I wouldnt have crashed apparently.

And for the person asking to be filled in... Search crash damage in the forum search.

That's a proper barsteward...

Only thing I can think of would be to do a gocompare et al quote, then phone all of the ones that wouldn't quote for you and ask.

I can't see a high risk drivers specialist insurer making a lot of cash tbh.

Well how in gods name does that work?
I got one quote before £7500 on a Vauxhall Combo 1.3CDTI.
Just done a Quote on a Volkswagen Golf 1.9TDI and it came back at £2690.
So for a slow little van it's nigh on 3 times more expensive Confused

Even for a driver without convictions I found van insurance expensive. Do you specifically need a van or would an estate car or 4x4 do? You can always paint out the windows in an estate or buy a commerical 4x4 like a discovery TDi, Isuzu Trooper or something like that. Pick them up for under a grand (406 estate would be around £500) and may be cheaper to insure.

I don't really need it any more. I've already got it because my first year it was cheaper to insure a van than a car.

What about an old hilux or another pickup? Maybe an old 4x4?

They'll not be registered as comercial which will be why it's so expensive I think.
