my friend has a triumph tt600 2000 model fuel injected, the problem hes having is first thing speedo will only read to about 9mph when doing about 70 but usually just says 2 mph.

the second issue and most annoying is when the bike is started from cold it will idle at 2000rpm until up to temp which is at about 65* then it will idle at normal speed. then after about 5 mins of riding it will read normal running temp which is about 80* then it will start playing up.

the choke will then come back on and the low temp will flash then off again and so on, so from what iv gathered its ecu is thinking its cold and putting choke on so too much fuel.

how can we fix this or whats best to cheque? could it be the tem sensor for the ecu that could be faulty telling the ecu the bike is cold when its not or could it be a case of re setting the ecu and if so how can this be done iv serched but rubbish with computer searching ect thankyou adam.

The speedo thing is easy the magnet is broken in it, unfortunately you can't just buy the magnet you have to buy the whole unit from triumph which is about £100. You can get them on ebay but make sure the magnet is intact.

The magnet can be removed from the unit, and I know that even though the Sprint ST 955i unit is different the magnet is the same. I'm not sure how the Triumph adjust the idle, my TDM has an auto choke that often gets gummed up and needs cleaning out. You can buy a VAG USB OB2D cable and download the TUNEECU software to check the error codes.

I have heard of people gluing the magnet back to gether but that isn;t something I would do. Also I would avoid riding it until you have taken the broke bits of magnet out of it. Should be a 10 minute job if you can get the front wheel off of the ground.

The Zip file here

Where are you based? if you are near me (Essex) I will happily see if it is throwing any error codes, could show your what you need to replace on the front wheel or if you have bought it even fit it for you. I have a speed four I'm not sure how easy the temp sensor is to remove but we could try swapping them over if you want.
