Honda CG 125...have to use choke to start it now

Got an issue with my Honda CG 125 55 plate. Hope someone can help!

I bought it a few weeks ago, and initially stored it in a friends back garden, whilst I was waiting to get rid of my car. Every 4-5 days, I would take it out for a ride.
I did this 3 times. On each occasion, it started perfectly 1st time (it only has an electric start).
Over the bank holiday weekend, I left it in my friends garden on the stand, with a cover on it. On the Friday, we both went away for the weekend. When I left it, the fuel guage was at the start of the red section (so I still the red section of fuel left).
On Saturday, he told me before he left on Friday, he had seen that bike had fallen on its side!! He hadn't picked it up, as it was too heavy for him.
I came back on Wednesday night, and went to get the bike on Thursday morning.
It was on its side with the cover still on. I lifted it up, checked it over, and there didn't seem to be any dents at all.
I wheeled it out, got on it, and pressed the start button. It made the chugging noise, as if it was about to start, but it wouldn't actually start.
I kept on trying this for a while, but it wouldn't start.
I then remembered the guy I bought it from, told me on winter mornings if the bike doesn't start, I might have to use the choke.
So I pulled the choke lever out, then tried starting it, and eventually it started!!
I started riding it, and it wouldn't go over 25mph. I thought maybe its not got any petrol in it. The engine was also making a struggling noise.
So I took it to the petrol station, and filled up (only 13 quid! WOW).
Before I started it up, I turned the choke off, hoping it would start up on its own.
It did start, and I rode it out, and it was fine. It accelerated like normal, and all engine noises were normal.
I went to work (which takes 15 minutes) and parked up at 9am.
At 5pm, I tried to start it up, and I had the same problem.
So I used the choke to start it up again, and again I left the choke on, as I started riding it. So again the bike wouldn’t go over 25mph, and the engine started making a struggling noise.
I pulled over and turned the choke off, and then it was fine.
So as a result, I learnt if I use the choke to start the bike, I must then turn it off!

Got home, parked up.
Next morning, I tried to start it, and same problem.
Had to use the choke to start it (which I turned off once it had started), and then it was fine.
So parked up at 9am at work.
At 1pm, I had to go to a different site, and this time the bike started fine without the choke.

I have read into what the choke actually does, it 'chokes' the air, and gives a more fuel rich intake to the engine.
But what I don't understand is how before if I didn’t ride the bike for 4-5 days, it still started up 1st time without having to use the choke.
So why now, am I having to use the choke each time to start it??

The guy I bought it from serviced it himself in April.

The other problem as a result of it falling over (which I still don’t understand how this happened), is where the mirrors are on a rod, and where this rod screws into the handle bars, something is loose here now, and neither rod (left or right) will screw in tight. They keep slipping. I'm gonna have a look at this properly on the weekend. Maybe it is cross-threaded or something, but not sure how this happened?!

I'm mainly concerned about having to use the choke each time I use the bike, as I didn’t have to use this before.
Could anyone please shed some light on this?

On a side note, I think its really good how when I'm riding my bike, whenever I see another biker, they always nod. Makes you feel part of a community!

using the choke is normal,espcially now the weathers changing you'll have to use it more.

The bike spent for days on its side? Did you check for any petrol or oil around the bike...

I have to start my 125 on choke every day... You can just start it and ride it slowly for a bit and flick it off, should be fine

im no genius but maybe put the keys in and just turn it on, twist the throttle full for a few seconds then try starting it.
this is what my step dad has to do on his harley cause he doesnt ride it so often

having to use the choke to start it up is normal, the previous owner probably used it all the time, you only used it once every couple of days so it makes sense you have to do it now.
remember you dont have to pull the choke all the way, a 3rd or half will do in this weather, if you have it on full thats probably the reason the engine is struggling the engines flooding.
choke on a little bit, ride away, take choke of once the engines warmed up a bit
