Hi all,

I've been keeping my eye out for a bike that can accomodate reasonable two up riding and store some luggage. I've been looking at all sorts of bikes for this, some new, some second hand etc.

Suzuki are doing an offer on all bikes, basically you get £1 off per cc, so a GSXR600 would bag you £600 off.

The one that stood out to me was the Bandit, it's £1255 off so a new 1250 bandit can be had for <£6k.

They also do a 1250 GT model, it comes with faring, satnav, topbox and panniers and actually looks quite nice.

If I went for this i'd be keeping my 600RR so i'd still have a sporty bike, this is just going to be used for either motorway commutes or two up riding with the other half.

So with all that in mind, are the bandits really that bad? I'm tempted to test ride one.

Not bad no. Go and test ride one you might like it.

Bear in mind that if you do enjoy yourself, it means you're getting old. Razz

Cool, will give it a shot, it seems like a lot of bike for the money, especially with the offer.

I've got a feeling i'll enjoy it so not sure if that's a good or a bad thing. A few years ago, the choice would have been simple, replace 600rr and get ZX-10, S1000RR or Blade. Now for reasons that seem entirely logical i'm looking at a pimped up Bandit!

That'd be a giggle! Laughing

Maybe, just maybe one day.

I thought the nearest dealer to me was JS Gedges in Sussex but they've not a Suzuki Dealer anymore, at least for new stuff.

So... Just phoned another local lot, the bloke seemed alright, had a chat about swapping the exhaust, I've just never liked a massive steel exhaust so that'd be the start of it.

The fun of having a bike with panniers, topbox and a turbo just seem quite amusing, get a dump valve on it and it's sorted!

I've just had a look at that, it's a hell of a lot of bike for the money. You could buy 2 of them for the price of a Kwak GTR1400 Shocked

Yup, it's a hell of a lot of bike. It also has a Garmin bike satnav. My biggest issue is that people tend to slate Bandits calling them bland/boring etc, i'm not sure how much truth there is to that, i know it's a budget bike but i'm not looking for high performance here, just something practical. I'll ride one and see, it's purpose is to serve a 'function' and as i'll still have the RR it wont have to be the most fun thing ever.

If it'll do 200 miles of riding in a round trip over a day, with two people and some gear, then it's all good.

Oh myyyyy.

OK, they've had a small price rise, but love-a-duck, you can get an SV650S for £1 down, with 0% finance, with a free restrictor kit, for less than the price of a Ninja 250. Heck, it's £1200 less than an ER6-N. Shocked

That's powerful bold pricing. I wonder if the other marques will blink and try to match it.

I must be getting old then... Went and test rode one today, liked it, got quite addicted to the torque, it seemed VERY easy to do ~80Mph on a country lane (not mega twisty but a little).

Very simple to ride, nice feel out of it, piss easy to ride at slow speed and a good bit of go in it.

Totally different to the RR, need to understand the way it turns etc but all seems good.

So, bought it, they only had a silver one and I wanted black so picking mine up next saturday. Pics will follow.
