Seen a few how to guides and everyone seems to cut at the outlet end, is it possible to cut it from the link pipe end?

The can is a Carbon Co Can and has a 1cm dent at side of the band!

Drill outlet off, cut can down, rivet the outlet back on..

you can cut the sleeve either end, but cut the baffle tube on the outlet end, inlet end the baffle tube will be welded to it.

Ok thanks, do you think it would run any different having a shorter can?

My bike is a 1998 CBR 600 F3 with 25,000 miles...

It will accelerate very very slightly faster due to the reduced weight of the can, you will not be able to detect this.

Doesn't weight that much to be honest to doubt it will make it quicker.

Done two photoshops, the first is how it is at the minute, can't decide how short to make it.

Opinions?

Cut it to the longer size first, easier to take material off than it is to put it back on.

Shorter = louder.

My late uncle had a similar outlook, but he was a barber, not a biker Laughing

Yes, if you find you've cut the can too short, you're pretty much fooked... plus, if it's VERY obvious that it's not a standard size, you may find that you have some extra, unwelcome attention from plod?
