Hi All,

I'm after some sensible comments to this question, so please don't flame me for asking.

I want to know from those in the know what this bike in the pictures is worth ? Yes, I'm looking at getting a 600cc bike.

I've seen the bike and had a ride on it, it's in a very tidy condition for it's age (no scratches or dents). It's on a D reg (87), and has done 44k miles.

The engine runs sweet, it also rides sweet too.

It's had three owners.

The bike needs to have left fork seal replaced and a new rear tyre for next MOT, other than that it's fine.

It's got MOT and TAX till the 7th month of this year.

Any idea's guy's & girls ?

TIA

I wouldn't say its worth much over £600 if that, new tyre is going to be near £100 and then there is about £30 for the fork seal and oil (assuming you can fit in your self).

Why not derestrict the 400 and be happy with that?

Why don't you just sell that old 400 and buy one decent bike instead of buying these old heaps.

But if you got the money from the old one and the new one you could buy a good bike.

Yes Kev, I know, but I don't want a bike thats 1990 onwards, I like to stay with cheap old heaps for the time being.

I'd rather damage an old heap than a 1990 onwards heap thats going to cost more in money for parts.

Nicely said, and I think the same.

Old heap is cheaper, cheaper to insure (it's be a grand more if i got a new Diversion instead of my XJ900) and are proven to be good runners.

This is true Milo, the cost of insurance on a 1990 onwards bike is far too much for my liking.

Suppose £232 fully comp on a blade is way too much then?

It'll be a heap of shit at 33bhp. It'll be slower than the 400, and will handle worse and weight more. Either derestrict the 400 and use that for a while, or do you accelerated access and then derestrict it and use that for a while. Smile

Full Comp on a Blade would be too dear for me Kev, my location and that would put it up to £700 +, and TPFT at £500 at a guess.

I'd rather spend little as possible on a bike, I don't care how old it is, newish is not what I'm after, tried and tested is another thing, as long as it gets me from A to B and back to A again I don't care if it's 1980's crap, all that matters is that it works.

Hi

They are fairly old and not that that popular. I would say £350~£700 depending on condition, tax, mot, etc. From what you say probably aroubd £500.

All the best

Keith

I was TPO on the gixer due to the mods on that and I was TPFT on the blade but when i went to get my renewal I asked about fully comp and I was told it was £232 due to my age, my no claims and the length of time i've had my licence.
