ive been having trouble with insurance lately.
basically the bike is a

Honda NS125 R-K , its not a NSR125R


now on the insurance lists, it gives me only one option for my bike. and this is NS125F, this f version of my bike is the same but does not have a fairing, its the same engine, in fact the same frame ,wheels etc.

same haynes manual even..............

not sure what to do. should i just insure it as the ns125f with my reg Number?

I guess you are using a insurance comparison site??

If you are, stick the faired version in see who comes up cheapest and then ring them and explain it's the R-K version but wasn't listed.
I would assume it will be slightly cheaper due to no fairings to smash if dropped.

are you putting in your reg number where it says "do you know the reg of the vehicle"? it usually then brings up the correct details for your bike(instead of you manually searching for your bike from a dropdown menu)....if it doesn't bring up your correct details I'd call the place that offers the best quote & explain the situation

Get an internet quote for the NS125F to find out who is cheapest. Then phone them to buy it. On the phone call tell them it's a Honda NS125 R-K but not a NSR125R; basically it's like a NS125F: apart from the faring they're the same. The operator will probably select the NS125F but, should they ever query your bike (in the event of a claim or something) they will have recorded phone conversations of you being absolutely straight with them regarding what the bike was.

Check your log-book.
Look for discrepancies between registration date and date of manufacture; could be private import of italian spec bike on 'age related' plate... RK model might not be on Insurance Industry Database, because that variant ISN'T a genuine UK model.
Usually asked to 'declare' if the bike is a genuine import or not; and that does influence quotes; imported NON UK bikes represent greater risk to insurers as IF the bike is damaged then data and parts to return it to 'pre-accident' condition may be hard if not entirely unobtainable in THIS country.
Similar vein; .... if details for your reg come up as an 'F'... could be your bike isn't all you think it is.... could be some-one has simply used RK fairlings on an F to tart it up, or possible that italian import RK has been 'ringed' onto the ident of a scrapped UK 'F'... or even a nicked bike, ringed onto UK reg.... Also possible that original dealers didn;'t record full model designation and variant, or DVLA didn't enter it correctly, when first registered.
Many many possibilities... you need to check and double check what you THINK you have, then what you ACTUALLY have, then get it straight with the insurance company....
If you declare registration, but declare a different bike, and YOU may believe that an NS125RK is the 'same' as an NS125F... manufacturer would disagree with you, insurance co would disagree with you, judge in court of law would diagree with you... and you have 'knowingly' made falce declaration in irder to obtain insurance....
You NEED to be clear over ANY area of uncertainty with Insurance comanies they DO NOT have the imagination humans do!
So use the telephone, old fasioned communication, and TALK to them, and if you HAVE to, use that evem more luddite but irrefutable tool of talking, the old fasioned letter..... get an answer from them in writing they cant argue about it later!
