What do you guys think of this... https://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/lidl_uk/hs.xsl/index_24063.htm ???

I am tempted as cheap, also doing some gloves at £12.99...I will be on a 125 scooter in London doing the knowledge so open face is a good choice for vision etc.

Let me know your thoughts....I don't hope to test it's safety rating LOL, it must have some kind of certificate to be on sale, surely?

Flip lids. Meh. I love my flip though only use the flippy thing for searching for my wallet in my inside jacket pocket. With a full face you can't see. But i wouldnt wanna crash while its flipped up though.

If you are looking for cheap lids, might I suggest ghostbikes.com.

Some awesome helmets there. Btw worth using the sort button, they love throwing the £340 first. Rolling Eyes Laughing

TBF though for £40 you can't moan. Smile

I bought one of these Lidl helmets earlier in the year - GOOD they are in my opinion. OK, perhaps a bit heavier/ bulkier than a "fitted" helmet but as value for money you cant go wrong. Relative to my previous full face helmet the sideways vision is a bit restricted by the "bits" that support the flip mechanism - but you soon get used to moving your head a bit more to look back over your shoulder

I just found a vid on youtube of a quick review...it has a neat sunvisor which flips down inside of the clear visor, so when flipped you can shield from the sun, quite neat for the dollar me thinks.

I'll pick up one and a pair of gloves and report on the quality, I don't have a bike yet but can report on what I think of them..

Looking at the design. It appears to be the same as V-Can.

Made out in China by one of the largest manufacture's of helmets in the world.

Have a look here there is a vid of the production process.

It's ECE 22-05 marked, which means as much as it does on any other helmet. It's a plastic bucket over a head shaped piece of packing polystyrene.

I had a play with one in the local shop (well, you have to, don't you?) and couldn't find anything obviously wrong with it, other than the inevitable weight and bulkiness from all the doodads.

It does indeed appear to be a V-can (Karma for that), which is 3 star SHARP rated with a 93% flip lock rate. The weak points are side impacts, likely because of all the hinging, but there are plenty of Big Money helmets that crow about their similarly poor side impact results being deliberate, so that's not a barrier to buying it. Wink

I bought one back in February (they were doing the same offer back then). I used it all through summer and will continue to use it this winter. It is a bit bulky but it's a bloody good lid for the price. Flip down shades are really handy.

Anti-fog visor is a god-send (the previous helmet used to steam up like a bastard - I used to hold my breath at traffic lights!) Even got a spare visor with this one. Best £40 spent on the bike so far. In fact, considering taking a drive down to Lidl tomorrow to pick up another one if they're still there! One thing I would say is that if you intend to ride with it flipped up, it does feel a bit 'top-heavy' / wobbly. You'll be ok if you have neck muscles like Hulk.

Also got their gloves back in Feb and I've used them as my 'summer' gloves - they're not waterproof and got pretty soaked through - which meant when I pulled my hands out, the inner lining got pulled out too - and it's a real bastard to get back in properly.
