she needs a CBT.

if she does the cbt and rides a 50cc, she can ride it for life without renewing.

If she rides a 125, she will have to renew it every 2 years.

Its true.

If she has a full car and does CBT, a 50 is able to be ridden without renewing. Car licence plus doing cbt enables the full moped for life...atleast thats what the text comes across as.

The whole riding a 50cc on a car license is only if you have a full car license dated before 1st Feb 2001.

If you want to ride a moped and you got your car license after that date, you'll either need a cbt every 2 years or a full bike test.

To do a cbt you will also need minimum a provisional license.

Thats how I understand it anyway Smile

From the horse's mouth:

Quote:
If you have a car licence...
If you obtained your full car licence before 1 February 2001 you are automatically entitled to ride a moped without L-plates (D-plates in Wales).

If you obtained a full car licence after 1 February 2001 you must first complete a CBT course and obtain a DL 196 certificate to validate your entitlement.

I think it's the title of the thread that gave you that idea. Laughing

Weird, this is all news to me.

The quoted bit reads as the CBT validates the moped entitlement but, since a CBT does expire could that not be read as you need a valid CBT to validate the moped entitlement?

And the no L plates bit surprises me too. Doesn't concern me but it does seem there is some confusion over the matter. golly!

I don't know how many times we've gone over this on this forum Laughing

A car licence after 2001 + CBT DOES allow you 50cc for the life of your car licence with no L's.

CBT only expires on motorcycles above 50cc if you have a car licence of any year. It states clearly this on the back of the CBT certificate.
