trying to find some good robust plants for the tank, ones that dont grow like feck and dont disintigrate when the fish have a nibble.
iv always had an amazon sword in there that does the job great but i like a bit of variety, every other plant i get grows likie feck or last for about 3 days.

Last for ever, and grow pretty well. My fish love swimming and hiding in there aswell as keeping them trimmed by munching Very Happy

More swords?

Vallis is a good background plant.

Cryptocorynes?

Hygrophilia is a good one, grows fast though but you can use cuttings for more plants, fills the tank quickly.

Is the tank coldwater or tropical?

Plastic plants FTW.

Nothing fucks up a tank like a good layer of rotting vegetation in the gravel.

its a tropical tank, iv always got oxiginators in there but always replace them when they grow and look spindly.
dont like fake plants just dont look the same, was really looking for plants that act like the sword ie grows slowly and wont get munched.

Hi

Anubias species come in different sizes, grow slowly, don't require high levels of lighting or nutrients and don't tend to get eaten (by many species of fish). I have previously used them in mbuna tanks.

They do best when attached to wood or rocks etc. One downside is that because they are slow growing (one leaf per 3 weeks) they can get algae growing on their leaves. I tend to put them in the parts of the tank with lower light levels. Thumbs Up

Apologies if you already knew that Smile

All the best
Mike
