hi - I'm 48 - road and past my test for the first time 2years ago - got on well with a BMW f650 but no exitement or reward and now a 2009 Triumph Striple 1050 ( it has a lowered gel seat) ..wow amazing machine power , handling needs a lot smoother response from me ( is that the machine or me ?) but I'm just under 5'-7" , 10 stone 5 ( 60 kilos) and struggling to manovere, off the centre stand etc.. don't get me wrong i'm no weakling ! but is it just the extra 20% weight to my bm ( 387 lbs to 490lbs) or higher centre of gravity. any other larger bikes anyone can reccomend ?
answers on a postcard ! they were the days
cheers

I had a Sprint and solved the centre stand problem by never putting it on the centre stand. Thumbs Up

Manouvering was helped by buying boots that made me taller, but I'm under 5 foot 6 and didn't have the low seat.

I guess it was mainly a case of 'don't get into situations where you need to move it without the engine or gravity', mostly.

Always seemed to handle better fully luggaged up, I found.

I had a Honda Deauville which was too high for me, I lowered the front by 11mm and this helped a little, I liked the way it made my steering more positive.
Getting onto the bike was solved by putting it on the side stand and getting my foot on the left foot peg, then mounting the bike.

As for the acceleration, it is yourself at fault, as it is a more powerful machine and is very quick on the throttle, you should get used to this in time.
Good luck with it anyway mate.
