I have had to bite the bullet and have just bought these:

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280558101283&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:GB:1123

Anyone had any experience of these discs, if so would like to hear what you thought.

I'm going to need some this year so I'd be interested too. Like that they're black as well.

I'll likely need discs at some point, front are ever so slightly warped and my rear has some wierd ridges, most likely from grit getting caught in there im guessing.

Last week or so iv been looking at a few companies that sell new discs fairly cheap:

Armstrong
ABE
Blackshadow https://blackshadow-uk.com/default.aspx

But googling has given up mixed reviews, be good to know what you think of them after a few months etc

I was thinking of using blackshadow, I had my eye on the ones below. But decided to go with the above ones.

I can understand why you put them off, discs are so friggin' expensive! can get car ones for £25 a set. I know there is a lot more to a bike disc though. They look good to me Thumbs Up

the crap ones tend to warp easily or worst case disintigrate Laughing

I was looking for some ages ago for the cbr but didnt want to spend over £200 for metal hoops and thought of buying the chinese kagizume ones for £120 but i soon changed my mind due to a few bad reviews claiming immediate warpage
In the end i just bought some origional ones from a breaker for £60 and they were like new, so i was happy.

I think with the cheaper discs its a bit of a lottery as some seem to be ok and some dont.

They are both round and appear to be symmetrical, the only problem I could foresee is that they appear to be worth a fraction over what I would pay for your bike, and you of course may have to do some cleaning in order to fit them, then you would have clean bits on your bike, and you can't just have clean bits, it all needs to be clean, no just clean in certain areas, clean all over, yep yep yep needs to be cleaned. Thumbs Up Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

I will give the claipers and pistons a clean, before fitting the new discs and pads. Razz

As for the rest of the bike, dirt protects it Wink

But dirt is dirty, and dirty bikes are unhappy bikes, and we don't like unhappy bikes.

Hmmm maybe we should start a campaign to get the filth wizard Pax to clean his bike Laughing

That's a bugger. I need new discs and was looking at ABE. Hopefully they'll be better. I think Tot has used them before and recommended them.

Out of interest. What condition and age are your callipers? Did you check/replace the seals, pitting on the pistons? Did you clean your callipers in the 8 months you had the discs? Also what sort of riding do you do? Fast, heavy on the brakes, all weather? How many miles did you put on them?

Just trying to get an idea of what, if any, torture you put these discs through to judge quality.

Cleaned the calipers and put new pads in when fitted the new discs, done about 3000 miles since they have been on. Most miles have been commuting but I have done some hard riding when out with mates.

Calipers are the original, the bike is a 2003 model.

I have cleaned the calipers during the 8mths, but I do think the piston is a little pitted and needs replacing. I use the bike in all conditions.
