All I've got is MGI Videowave 4, and its shit.

Somebody's asked me to film a promo video, which I can do, but the editing is going to prove a problem if I can't get hold of some decent software to do it with... I need something that will capture from an AV source and let me edit/overlay soundtracks and such...

Any ideas?

Pinnacle Studio is good.

If you have a lot of tracks of video that are concurrent and not sequential, you want something a bit chunkier like Premiere. But for all the BCF stuff, Pinnacle's been grand.

Yeah Pinnacle is easy to use and more than adequate for most stuff. The latest version (studio 9) also allows for surround sound which is nice (though I haven't had chance to play with it yet).

Just to be different. I use Sonic Foundry's 'Vegas 4.0'. I don't do a great deal of editing though and it was quite easy to get into.

You want to use Adobe Premier, we use it at work and it's always been up to the job. You can download legit copies from share reactor. Wink

PLEASE dont use Adobe Premiere. It's a crock o'shite and we don't want Adobe to actually think their product is any good by more people using it!!

If you are a mac person - use Final Cut Pro if you really must, but for serious editing use Avid DV Pro.. as long as you are capturing from a DV source of course! Otherwise get a cheapo capture prog to capture from a composite/s-video capture card then import it into Avid DV.

Trust me, I'm a professional! Laughing Laughing

If you want to be really lazy, try www.muvee.com all you do is add music and pictures, pick a style and it does the editing for you! Just like magic! Laughing
