Basically, I saw a prang between 2 cars this evening, on a very busy 3 lane roundabout, so I had nowhere safe to stop and traffic flow took me away from it quite quickly. It was a small rear-ender, didn't look like any damage but you never know. Anyhow I caught it on my bike-mounted camera, got both number plates clearly as well.

Just wondering if it's even possible to somehow come forward as a witness for the purposes of insurance etc... Who would you go to in order to report it? Is it even worth it? The only info I have is the types of cars they were and their number plate details.

Unless one of them reports it as the other leaving the scene of an accident, which I'd then assume the police may put up a witness board at the side of the road I wouldn't bother, they may only do that for serious incidents though, not sure...

If you want to report it then phone the desk of the local station and say what you've just said on here...

The police would have attended if there were injuries, or may even have attended to deal with traffic issues.

If it was just an ordinary rear end shunt then liability won't be difficult to work out for the insurers and your evidence won't be needed, most likely.

It's perhaps worth a call to the police in case they did create an incident for it.

Unless It's a major smash with a realistic chance that someone got hurt I wouldn't bother, plod won't be interested and trying to get anyone else interested is more hassle than It's worth.

Of course it could be the only video evidence of a common ploy of the crash for cash fraud teams who like rear ending vehicles on roundabouts Very Happy

Doubt it - was a middle aged white guy in a suit, during rush hour. Car behind was too close and his car moved forward a bit then stopped suddenly because the car in front of him did the same. Driver behind was a bit too trigger-happy with the gas, didn't anticipate the guy in front having to stop quickly and didn't allow any breathing room.
