Didnt know where to post this, so i went for here
Anyone got any experience or know anything about the yamaha tdm?
Looking at getting one for my next bike, want a kinda touring/adventure bike but lack in the height department.
Looking at the seat height of a tdm looks alright, just wanted to know what theyre like to own/ride.
Cheers, Hayley. ____________________ Honda cg125 > Honda Cb500 > Yamaha TDM850 > Honda NSR 125 > Yamaha XJ600 > Kawasaki GPZ 600 > Suzuki Bandit 600S |

Edit: 5'1 erk...Very low seat height for such a big bike I think is what's meant, but you might want to get a little bit of the seat scooped out further. They're extremely comfortable and will sit on the motorway at decent cruising speeds all day. No major reliability problems to report either.
The only big issue I have with them is that they burn through oil like nothing else I've ever ridden ("they all do that sir/madam", according to all I've read about them) and don't have a sight glass window or easily accessible dipstick, it's under the seat, so you've got to stay on top of that.
Recommended bike though ____________________ Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.

SV's are slighly taller, but I've seen shortarses managing them quite well. Narrower bikes with narrower seats help.
Failing that, there's the Virago's etc |

Great brunch of guys that will point you right, great bunch of guys. 9/10 850's burn oil like a lot of the 5 valve head Yamahas of the time.
The 900 (which I have) is a better bike and doesn't burn oil. Personally I think at 5'1 you would be too small for either. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.
Skudd:- Perhaps she just thinks you are a window licker and is being nice just in case she becomes another Jill Dando.
WANTED:- Fujinon (Fuji) M42 (Screw on) lenses, let me know if you have anything. |
