hi all, basically i purchased my moped without a full logbook as it was off my uncle so i trusted him. iv applied for a full logbook, sending off the part of the logbook i got (new keeper details section) with the bike. they wrote back to me asking for a few details such as who i bought it off, chassis number etc so i sent that back and recieved a letter saying i could expect my logbook within 2 weeks. now today i have recieved a v235 off them asking for similar sort of details as before but they also requested the engine number which when i tried to find, it came to my attention that is has been removed for one reason or another. so my first question is why are they asking these questions instead of just sending me my logbook? should i be worried coupled with the fact the engine number has been removed? or is it standard procedure? and secondly, what can i do about the fact i cannot provide them with the engine number? will a hpi check give it me? because i obviously dont want to lose my bike and would rather forget the logbook and sell it in parts if im going to lose the bike. i did a my text check so i know the frame at least isnt stolen, just now not so sure about the engine :/

please no sarcy answers as i need serious info. thanks Neutral Sick

It may have been blown up and a whole replacement engine from a breakers dropped in. The engine numbers would then have been removed as they wouldnt have matched the DVLA records.

Dont think the worst, some bikes were supplied without engine numbers. Give them all the info you've got, i cant see there being a problem Smile

BTW: Do a proper job of removing the numbers Wink

HPi check will give the engine number- if its a Chinese scoot it'll probably be the same as the frame number...
